About Us:

The Burnaby French Language Preschool (BFLP) is looking for a full-time Early Childhood Educator to join the BFLP staff ratio starting November 2025.

Since 1975,

Burnaby French Language Preschool (BFLP)

has operated as a licensed non-profit society providing preschool-age children with a stimulating learning environment while introducing them to the French language.

BFLP recognizes the value of play in fostering a young child's development and the benefits of learning through play. Operating as a parent-participation preschool, all administrative operations are managed by parent volunteers, allowing teachers to focus primarily on the children and program curriculum.

Our goal is to create a safe, joyful, and creative environment where children can develop confidence, social skills, and familiarity with the French language.

Program Ratio:

The preschool operates with a 2:15 teacher-to-child ratio, ensuring small group engagement and a supportive environment for both educators and children.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a

full-time Early Childhood Educator

to join starting November 2025. The successful candidate will assist in planning and implementing a French immersion preschool program for children ages 2.5-5 years.

This position reports directly to the Head Teacher and Board of Directors (comprised of parent volunteers).

Duties include:

Planning and leading engaging activities that promote early learning through play and French language exposure Providing a safe, inclusive, and caring classroom environment Building positive daily communication with families and the school community Supporting classroom setup, cleanup, and organization of materials Collaborating with colleagues to enhance program delivery Performing other duties as required

Schedule:

Monday - Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm

The BFLP preschool program runs September to June annually, with school closures scheduled during Winter break (two weeks), and Spring break (one week).

Location:

Burnaby French Language Preschool (6060B Marlborough Avenue, Burnaby BC - portable located at Marlborough Elementary School)

Compensation + Benefits:

Hourly Wage: $20-25/hr (depending on experience) + $6 wage enhancement for candidate with valid ECE Certificates Flexible Benefits Plan through a Health Spending Account Paid Sick Days (5) Generous 18 paid vacation days built into the school year -- including Winter Break, Spring Break, and extra flexible days to rest and recharge Paid Professional Development day and allowance for training

The successful candidate must possess the following:

ECE or ECEA license required Current first aid certificate and CPR Level C Clear Criminal Record Check Fluency in French and English 3 references
