DEMENTIA PROGRAM MANAGERRIVER EAST PERSONAL CARE HOMEApplications are invited for the position of FULL TIME, DEMENTIA PROGRAM MANAGER to work at our Long Term Care Facility located AT 1375 Molson Street, Winnipeg. Reporting to the Administrator, the Dementia Program Manager leads the nursing team in providing best practice dementia care. This role also leads our home in Infection Prevention & Control.QUALIFICATONS:1. Registration with the Manitoba Association of Registered Nurses. Preference given to graduates of a Bachelor of Nursing Program, Nursing Administration or equivalent. Licensed Practical Nurse may be considered.2. Must be knowledgeable in principles and philosophy of long term care; supervisory/management experience in long term care preferred.3. Must be knowledgeable in areas of dementia care, Dementia Behavioural Assessment and has received enhanced training; proficient in infection prevention and control4. Mentally and physically able to perform duties as outlined.5. Managerial experience working within a unionized environment.6. Demonstrates concern and interest in providing quality care and service for the Elders.7. Ability to analyze and problem solve complex Elder issues.8. Demonstrates leadership and organizational skills.9. Ability to communicate with other Team Members, Elders, families and the public.10. Understanding and utilization of computers, office based software (word and excel) and MDS is a must.SUMMARY OF DUTIES:In keeping with the philosophy and policies of River East Personal Care Home, the Dementia Program Manager will carry out administrative duties in the nursing department. This includes coordinating, planning, problem solving, facilitating discussion, education specifically dementia and dementia related illness and mentoring our team members in collaboration with the Director of Care and Assistant Director of Care. The incumbent will provide supervisory and mentoring opportunities to team members on all neighborhoods; this includes performance appraisals, recruitment, selection and discipline.Consults with and advises the Director of Care concerning Elder care matters.
