Roulston's Pharmacies are a group of community pharmacies located in Norfolk and Oxford Counties. We have 5 stores located in Simcoe, Port Dover, Delhi and Tillsonburg. We are an independent pharmacy group supported by PharmaChoice Canada. Roulston's is innovative in our approach to the provision of pharmacy services focusing on clinical services across many specialties including diabetes, heart health, compounding, smoking cessation, pain management, medical cannabis, natural therapies and medication management. We have a team of highly skilled auxiliary staff including multiple Pharmacists, Registered Pharmacy Technicians, Nurses and Pharmacy Assistants. In addition to our retail community pharmacy services we also service several long-term care, retirement and group homes that are supported by a team of clinical and consultant pharmacists.
Our Compounding Team works in our Simcoe Wellness Centre location. This role is a full time role working alongside compounding pharmacists and compounding pharmacy assistants. We estimate full time hours focusing on Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm but may be asked to help with retail dispensary shifts in the evening until 8pm or on weekends occasionally.
Summary
As a Compounding Pharmacy Technician at Roulston's Pharmacy, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists and ensuring that our patients receive the highest level of care. This position is essential for maintaining our commitment to quality service and patient satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Primary
Enter new or refill prescriptions for compounds into Kroll while ensuring accurate billing and generating a Mixture Instruction Sheet
Call patients to clarify missing patient information including drug plan information and allergies
Flag new compounds for the compounding pharmacist to clinically verify and counsel patients
Call patients to discuss copays, get approvals on compounding prescriptions, or to update patients on the status of their prescription
Check ingredients, calculations, expiry dates, and mixture instructions for each compound in the compounding lab
Perform the technical check on the completed compound in Kroll Workflow
Bring finished product to dispensary clerks and ensure delivery sheets and auxiliary labels are attached to compounded prescriptions
Assist pharmacist with pack stat calculations on lot # changes in capsule formulations; update master formulation with new info on pack stats
Review and update all risk assessments yearly
Removal of outdated master formulations from Kroll (more than 3 years since last used)
Annual updates of all master formulations focusing on references being scanned and versions updated
Annual review of SDS sheets
Inventory expiry check in compounding lab; expired product removed and documented and pharmacist discussion on reordering
Completion of audits within 24 hours of receiving them
Secondary
Back up to Compounding Assistant shifts in the lab on days they are absent
Compound prescriptions in the lab when required due to staffing issues
Order inventory when required
Back up to Registered Pharmacy Technician in retail dispensary
Requirements
