Restaurant Manager, Shift Supervisor, or Front-of-House Manager
Job Summary:
A server is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to restaurant guests, taking and delivering food and beverage orders, and ensuring a positive dining experience. Servers play a crucial role in representing the establishment and creating a welcoming atmosphere for patrons.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
Greet customers warmly and provide them with menus.
Assist guests in making menu choices, answering questions about food and beverages, and making recommendations.
Take and enter customer orders accurately and efficiently.
Ensure that special dietary needs or requests are communicated to the kitchen staff.
Order Management:
Relay orders to the kitchen and bar staff promptly.
Verify the accuracy of orders before serving them to guests.
Monitor the progress of orders and provide estimated wait times when necessary.
Table Service:
Set and maintain clean and organized tables.
Serve food and beverages to guests courteously and professionally.
Check back with guests to ensure satisfaction and address any issues or concerns.
Up-selling and Promotions:
Promote daily specials, additional menu items, and beverages.
Encourage dessert or after-dinner drink orders.
Payment Handling:
Accurately handle customer payments, including cash, credit cards, and digital payment methods.
Provide accurate change and process credit card transactions.
Ensure all transactions are recorded correctly in the POS system.
Side Work and Cleaning:
Perform side work duties such as rolling silverware, refilling condiments, and restocking service stations.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Assist with restaurant cleaning tasks and closing duties.
Knowledge and Training:
Stay informed about menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods.
Attend training sessions and meetings as required by management.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
Knowledge of food and beverage service, including wine and cocktail service.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Basic math skills for handling payments and making change.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and carry trays for extended periods.
Lift and carry trays of food and drinks.
Bend, stoop, and reach to perform cleaning and restocking tasks.
Working Conditions:
Work shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Fast-paced and often stressful environment.
