Position: Full Time, Permanent \xe2\x80\x93 Security Operations Centre (SOC) Officer
Site Type: Commercial \xe2\x80\x93 Corporate Towers, Malls, Offices, Educational Institutes and Colleges, Industrial and others
Location: Toronto, Downtown
Schedule: 12 hours Continental Days, Nights, and Rotation Schedule
Hours: 36 to 48 hours per week or 84 hours per biweekly
Payrate: $19.76/hour
Qualifications:
Valid Ontario Security Guard License
Physical Demands: excessive walking, standing, and sitting for 8 to 12 hours of shifts. This includes being in front of monitors and screens for long durations.
Must have a minimum of 1 year of Full-time Tactical Security Guard experience
Educational background in Law enforcement, Police Foundations, Security and Investigations, Criminology, or related subjects is considered an asset.
Must have quick learning skills to learn various software and programs designed per site requirements, i.e., intermediate computer skills.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
Must demonstrate high attention to detail / observational awareness
Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence and the ability to work productively and efficiently in a team
Technical Skills:
Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
Knowledge of security technology (i.e., CCTV, Access Control, Fire Alarm, Intrusion, Incident Management, and other security-related systems)
Knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, provincial, and municipal legislation and regulations in the area of security.
Major Responsibilities: The SOC officer involves the site systems, including but not limited to all communication systems, SOC logs/audits, CCTV, access control, fire panels/computers, elevator computers, and security records. Maintain a positive relationship with on-site representatives, assisting the Shift or Site Supervisor in ensuring that all security guards adhere to procedures. Furthermore, the Security Operations Centre guard is also expected to:
Monitor CCTV surveillance systems
Ensure the proper number of staff respond to high-risk incidents such as irate/emotionally disturbed people, medical situations, and emergencies.
Conduct random spot checks on the radio and CCTV to ensure staff are in their designated posts/zones.
Maintain compliance with and enforce property standards, rules, and regulations in a reasonable manner
Ensure staff are following the assigned patrol schedule.
Provide clear and concise communication to the security staff.
Record all information in a detailed and factual manner.
Ability to de-escalate a crisis situation, provide support and liaise with emergency personnel including police, fire, and paramedic resources.
Ensure staff are dispatched to calls for service and security-related incidents and ensure the situation is monitored by CCTV.
Record all relevant details in the Communication and Dispatch Log
Have the Emergency Response Checklists and Action Plan readily available.
Ensure the proper CCTV layouts are visible.
Ensure all SOC equipment is in the designated area and not moved around.
