Requirements:

An understanding of and an exceptional ability to perform all technical aspects of dispensing prescriptions is essential.

Experience in a clinical, small business, community pharmacy setting.

Our pharmacy assistant works closely with the pharmacist and other team members to provide one on one care to our patients.

Has the ability to multitask and truly understands critical thinking.

Must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Must have at least 1 year experience in a community pharmacy.

Daily tasks and responsibilities:



Assist patients at counter, receive written prescriptions for Pharmacist, and retrieve filled prescriptions. Process register transactions. Receive payment, make changes, process cheques, credit and debit charges. Provide prompt and courteous patient service. Answer phones, direct members to product location.

Assist Pharmacist in updating patient profile and entering prescription information into the pharmacy computer to extent permitted by Provincial regulations. Preserve patient confidentiality. Assist Pharmacist in filling prescriptions by bringing stock bottles, counting, pouring, restocking, labeling and pricing prescriptions under direct Pharmacist's supervision to the extent permitted by Provincial regulations. Follow safety and security procedures.

Prepare third-party insurance claims, process invoices and make accounting entries using computerized system.

Order, receive, tag and stock prescription drugs and supplies. Follow product storage procedure and standards.

Order, receive, tag and stock over-the-counter products in accordance with merchandising plan for department. Create product signs and complete over-the-counter roaming.

Clean department by sweeping, mopping, spraying, wiping and dusting. Empty trash, operate trash compactor and cardboard bailer.

Typical Schedule: 40 hours per week / 8 hours per with the flexibility of alternating weekends .

Qualifications: Education/Training: Completed a pharmacy diploma at a Community College or have at least 1 year experience in a community pharmacy



Licenses/Certifications: Completed a certification as required by province where applicable.



Experience: Candidates with current pharmacy experience will be given preference.

Knowledge/Skills: Kroll software.

Full-time hours: 35-40 hours per week
