Urban Dirtworks Inc. is a well-established multidisciplinary heavy construction firm operating out of Sylvan Lake, Alberta. We specialize in underground water and sewer installation/replacement, bridge culvert installation, residential subdivisions, commercial site development, large industrial infrastructure projects, drainage ditching, and road/highway construction.
Urban Dirtworks is looking for a skilled and experienced Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. This role offers a dynamic work environment where you'll be required to work both in our fully equipped shop and in the field, servicing and repairing heavy construction equipment in various outdoor conditions. As a Journeyman Mechanic, you'll need to bring both technical expertise and adaptability. You'll be expected to troubleshoot and repair a variety of heavy-duty equipment while prioritizing safety, efficiency, and quality.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
Perform preventive maintenance, repairs and regular servicing on a wide range of heavy-duty construction equipment, including but limited too; excavators, loaders, skid steers, highway tractors and trailers, as well as pick-up trucks.
Trouble shoot and diagnose mechanical issues, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems and troubleshoot complex problems.
Conduct inspections on equipment to ensure it is safe, compliant and operational.
Repair and replace major components such as engines, transmissions, axels, and hydraulic systems.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance performed, including work orders and service logs.
Collaborate with field crews to prioritize repairs and minimize equipment downtime.
Work in a safe manner and adhere to company safety protocols and industry standards.
Asist in maintaining inventory levels of parts and tools required for repairs.
Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and repairs on job sites.
Requirements:
Journeyman Mechanic Certification (or equivalent experience)
Minimum of 4 years' experience in a construction or heavy equipment repair environment
A valid Class 5 Driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits and no current charges or suspensions pending
Currently have or the ability to obtain a valid Class 3 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) and ability to obtain air brake endorsement (Q) within 3 months
An original driver's abstract no older than 60 days from all jurisdictions in which you have been a licensed driver in the past 2 years
Experience using computerized diagnostic programs and creating clear and concise work order job notes and reports of completed work.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team
