Characteristic Job Duties:
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Accountability #1Cleaning floors, washrooms, windows, dusting, collecting and disposal of garbage, occasional vacuuming.
Checks, cleans, moves, arranges and dusts furniture as required.
Ensures the general upkeep of external property such as cleaning outdoor main floor windows, outdoor litter collection, sweeping sidewalks.
Checks doors/windows to ensure security; provides access to facility; secure facility as needed, report health and safety issues.
Accountability #2Restock washroom supplies, distribute received materials as required.
Spot wash walls/doors; spot shampoo carpet as required, vacuum mats.
Collect linen (i.e., bedding), following hazardous materials procedures.
Sanitization of beds and all furniture contained therein upon guest departure.
Responsible for facility laundry (linens, towels, kitchen laundry, etc.)
Order/receive/store/redistribute supplies to appropriate departments and storage areas.
Accountability #3Provide suggestions to management as required and applicable that may improve efficiency, working conditions and/or procedures.
Participate fully and constructively in staff meetings and in-service training.
Engage in formal evaluation sessions and supervision for 3 and 6 months during the first year of employment and annually thereafter.
Read and follow Policy & Procedures Manual and Employee Handbook. Every employee must read and sign that they have read a copy of the Policies and procedures and understand that they will be required to adhere to all guidelines in their dealings with residents, as well as with staff and administration.
Redirect clients to appropriate Support workers and/or overnight workers.
Become familiar with the provisions of the Position Description and Operational Manual which will be provided for the position.
Working understanding of hazardous materials and their disposal, communicable disease manual, and deep cleansing accordingly to policy and Local Sudbury Health Unit
Knowledge and use of best proactive and knows how to use Universal Precautions
Perform other duties as required.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:The successful applicant will hold a grade 12 OSSD.
Current Certification in First Aid/CPR
Criminal Police Investigation Check (CPIC) which includes Vulnerable Population Check.
Non-violent crisis intervention training
WHIMIS
Onsite e-Training and working with Children.
Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:Must be able to ascend/descend flights of stairs
Experience working with a vulnerable population.
More than three months but less than one year of prior related experience,
and general familiarity with cleaning and maintenance procedures.The performance of the job requires operating cleaning equipment and tools, steamer, mopping and sweeping, bending/twisting/lifting, occasional ladder work and fine motor skills.
Suitable written and oral skills
The incumbent is required to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
Be familiar with the Ontario Health and Safety codes and standards

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening.
Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Full Time: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 1:30pm
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $19.36 to $19.36 with a maximum of $19.36.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
