Full Time Cook In The Food Services Department

Job Description

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Review Daily production sheets and menus with Chef or Sous Chef
  • Set up, organize, and prepare assigned station and menu items
  • Identifies and informs the Chef or Manager regarding any problems on station
  • Knowledge of menu items and recipes for each kitchen station worked
  • Adhere to standardized recipes and specifications in order to maintain consistency and ensure all departmental standards are met
  • Keep workstation clean and organized
  • Work rapidly and accurately
  • Pay attention to detail
  • Operate all kitchen equipment including slicers, choppers, mixers, ovens and specialty equipment in the various kitchens
  • Interpret and follow recipes
  • Take and record inventories of food products/transfers/waste
  • Relocate to other kitchens and work areas as needed
  • Give clear and concise instructions to cook helpers as needed
  • Assist the Chef and Sous Chef in menu preparation, service and breakdown of function
  • Experience in a minimum of two different areas of the kitchen, A la Carte Preparation/service, Banquets or production and Catering
  • Capable of working in public on live stations and maintaining superior appearance
  • Ensure all foods are handled and stored safely in accordance with established health codes and sanitary procedures
  • Carry out any other tasks assigned
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 5 years of cooking experience in a high-volume establishment with comparable service and standards
  • Red Seal Cook Certificate (Journeyman's papers) or Recognized International Equivalent
  • Proven high level of customer service
  • Valid Food Handler Certificate required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to stand for the duration of the shift
  • Cook culinary skills will be tested
  • Frequent heavy lifting required
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $27.05 per hourSchedule:
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability

  • Cooking: 5 years (required)
Licence/Certification:
  • Red Seal Cook Certificate, and Food Handler required (required)
