-Full Time will provide daily care, support, and supervision for children between 19 months to 6 years of age in a daycare setting. The Child Support Worker will facilitate daily social-emotional, learning, and physical activities for typically developing children and children who have experienced family violence and/or trauma.
What you will do...
Provide attachment-based daily care, support, and supervision for children between 19 months to 6 years of age.
Demonstrate knowledge of Alberta Flight Curriculum by planning and implementing purposeful programs that are age appropriate, stimulating, and rooted in developmentally supportive practice.
Engage in emergent, play-based, and child-focused program planning including creation and coordination of activities with children.
Ensure children's personal needs are met (example- feeding, child's hygiene, changing diapers and clothing, toileting, etc.)
Conduct and document observations on the growth, needs, interests and development of individual children and use these to provide a variety of new experiences through play.
Plan and implement the program in accordance with all Centre policies and procedures in addition to the ELCCA (Early Learning and Child Care Act) approved program plan and health and licensing standards
Support social and emotional development and provide positive guidance; demonstrate a high level of patience and compassion.
Supporting and intentionally modeling appropriate interpersonal communication, problem-solving, social, emotional, and self-regulation skills.
Set and follow reasonable behaviour expectations consistent with the Centre's philosophy and policies, as well as accepted practices in the field.
Provide a daily balance of active/quiet, indoor/outdoor, and individual/group activities.
Establish and carry out a daily activity schedule that incorporates child directed play experiences, self-help care routines and transition times.
Organize space, equipment, and materials before activities.
Use a variety of teaching techniques including modelling, provocation, prompting, extending, observing, questioning, demonstrating, and reinforcing.
Provide experiences and play materials that actively promote diversity and acceptance of cultures, traditions and value systems in interactions and attitudes.
Participate in short- and long-term planning and evaluation and staff program review.
Accept other agency-related assignment of duties to support the delivery of programs and services.
Ensure positive communication and information sharing during drop-off and pick-up of children.
Discuss the program's daily events and the child's daily progress with parents.
Accommodate the parent's instructions for daily routines, when possible, within group routines.
Encourage and welcome parent/family feedback.
Follow the Centre's procedures for administering and recording medications and reporting incidents and illnesses.
Proactively monitor and assess the environment for hazards indoors, outdoors, and off-site.
Update self-daily on children's allergies and other special conditions and/or needs.
Immediately document and report all incidents of concern such as child neglect and/or child abuse to the Supervisor and Director of Programs. Follow Centre policies and procedures and government regulations.
Establish and maintain a physically safe and healthy trauma-informed environment, ensuring that the physical environment is accessible to all children in the room.
Ensure toys and equipment are age and developmentally appropriate, used in accordance with the manufacturers' recommendations and in good repair.
Ensure children have regular opportunities for outdoor play weather permitting. Have a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the Early Learning and Child Care Act and Regulation.
Establish positive and productive relationships with families, supervisors and colleagues.
Use effective interpersonal communication techniques with children, parents, and co-workers.
Show care in personal appearance and dress appropriately and practically for the type of work as defined in the dress code policy.
Adhere to professional ethics.
Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times-in regard to the children and their families.
Attend required staff and parent meetings and participate in the annual performance review process.
Participate in recommended training programs, conferences, and courses, keeping up to date with current ECE research.
Maintain shift assignment flexibility.

What qualifications you will have...
Early Childhood Education - Level 3 preferred, or Bachelor of Education/equivalent.
1 - 2+ years of experience working in a related field required.
Experience working with children of all ages.
Knowledge in the developmental needs of children and the impact that toxic stress may have on development.
Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care.
Proven skills to work with vulnerable population.
Effective program planning, observation, and documentation skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, particularly around sensitive issues and situations impacting clients.
Ensure that oral and written communication is professional, respectful, and accurate
Competent computer skills including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, data tracking IT systems required.
Knowledge of the Flight Curriculum and its core concepts including documenting children's disposition to learn using Learning Stories is an asset.
Knowledge of Theraplay is an asset.
Alberta Health Services Food Safety and Sanitation an asset.

Clear Police Security Check & Vulnerable Sector Check & Clear Child Intervention Check to be maintained.
Valid Child Care First Aid & CPR.
Willingness to work flexible hours and to work indoor and outdoor dependent on activity.
Standing, bending, crouching, and lifting required (up to 60lbs. due to the average weight of oldest children in care).
This position is not eligible for hybrid remote work.
