Job Description

Job Title: Early Childhood Educator (ECE) - ASD & IBI Support (Full-Time OR Part-Time Opportunities)

Location:

Family Place, Summerside, PEI Join our dedicated team at Family Place in Summerside, PEI! We are a vibrant community organization committed to supporting children and families by creating nurturing environments where every child can thrive.

The Opportunity:

Are you a compassionate and skilled Early Childhood Educator passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)? We are seeking dedicated individuals to provide crucial one-on-one support to two young students (one aged 3 and the other aged 4) on the autism spectrum.

Ideally, we are looking for one Full-Time ECE to support both children (one in a morning session, one in an afternoon session). However, recognizing the intensive nature of this vital work, we are also open to hiring two Part-Time ECEs, with one dedicated to the morning session with one child, and the other to the afternoon session with the second child.

In either capacity, you will be implementing goals developed by an Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) specialist for each student, fostering growth in communication, social skills, potty training (as applicable), fine motor development, and more, within a highly collaborative and supportive team environment.

What You'll Do:

Individualized Student Support:

Full-Time Role:

Work one-on-one with both a 3-year-old student with ASD and a 4-year-old student with ASD, dedicating a morning session to one child and an afternoon session to the other.

Part-Time Role (AM or PM):

Work one-on-one with either the 3-year-old or 4-year-old student with ASD during your designated morning or afternoon shift.

IBI Implementation:

Diligently implement individualized strategies and activities based on each student's unique IBI plan to help them achieve key developmental goals (e.g., communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, play skills, fine motor skills, and self-help skills like potty training where appropriate).

Multidisciplinary Collaboration:

Work closely and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. This includes regular liaison with the IBI specialist, Occupational Therapists (OT), Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP), ASD specialists, the Program Director, other ECEs, and the children's families to ensure a consistent, coordinated, and holistic approach for each student.

Program Support:

Actively participate in and contribute to our Reggio Kids! Summer Camp (as applicable to student involvement), family programs, playgroups, and other centre activities, adapting as needed for the student(s) you support.

Safe & Nurturing Environment:

Ensure the safety and well-being of the student(s) under your care at all times through diligent supervision during indoor and outdoor play and activities, tailoring the environment to their sensory and behavioural needs.

Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate observations and records of student progress as required by their individual plans and for team communication.

Who You Are:

Professional & Reliable:

You are dependable, punctual, and maintain a high level of professionalism.

Strong Collaborator & Communicator:

Adaptable & Resilient:

You can adapt your approach to meet the varying needs of children with ASD and manage potential behavioural challenges calmly and effectively.
