JOB PURPOSE:
Work collaboratively and holistically with the nursing team to deliver resident centered care in accordance with the scope of practice defined by the Association of New Brunswick Licensed
Practical Nurses.
The LPN works with the Registered Nurse in creating and maintaining a respectful and professional workplace.
RESIDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists residents with activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, toileting, dressing, feeding, and ambulating.
During mealtimes assists with tray set up, feeding, and supervision.
Administers tube feedings as per order.
Assists with transport of residents to and from in-house activities and events as needed.
Assists residents with prosthetics, hearing aids, mobilization, and range of motion exercises.
Monitors and calibrates oxygen therapy as ordered.
Follows established bowel care routines such as administration of suppositories, enemas, and ostomy care.
Provides catheterization and catheter care.
Collects specimens, such as sputum, urine, and stool.
Assesses, monitors, and documents resident's intake and output, vital signs, blood glucose, weight, skin/wounds, and behavior and communicates findings to the RN.
Evaluates resident safety needs in consultation of the RN and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Administers medications and treatments following orders and using the 10 rights of medication administration.
Assists with palliative and post-mortem care.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides guidance and direction to other care team members.
Participates in meetings such as multidisciplinary care reviews providing information and following up on recommendations.
Communicates with residents, families, team members and other departments at Mill Cove to provide a resident centered approach to care.
Assist in orientation of new staff.
MILL COVE EXPECTATIONS:
Promote and maintain good public relations with residents, families, staff and general public.
Acquire thorough knowledge of and ability to demonstrate the use of all nursing equipment and supplies used on the unit.
Participate in offered education to best support residents.
Follow the Home's Code of Conduct, policies, and procedures.
Working weekends as necessary per collective agreement
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduation or equivalent.
Successful completion of a two-year Practical Nurse course through NBCC or equivalent.
Current registration with the Association of New Brunswick Licensed Practical Nurses.
Demonstrates ability to take direction and work as a team as well as assume a leadership role.
Physically able to perform all assigned duties.

Pay: $32.44-$34.59 per hour
