Architecture at TD Bank covers the overall technology strategy, direction, standards for designing and/or developing an architecture framework including technology architecture strategy, policies, guiding principles & standards to govern how technology solutions will be developed and implemented across the organization. An Architect at TD typically develops and maintains any combination of the following:

  • solution and application,
  • infrastructure environment,
  • technical integration,
  • data strategies & models,
  • security,
  • and enterprise architecture.

The Full Stack Architect for COLA (Global Anti Money Laundering and Corporate Defense Group lines of business) provides solution architecture and technology guidance to project delivery teams as they develop client solutions. The incumbent will have key involvement in architecting solutions that will support GAML & CDG business initiatives and provide deep architectural expertise & counsel to ensure technology teams and business areas understand the architectural options and technology choices. The Full Stack Architect will be accountable for the recommended solutions that account for total cost of ownership and risk, leveraging and/or advancing strategic Enterprise Architecture guiding principles, enterprise solutions and/or assets, and enterprise technology standards.

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years in the role of a Solution Architect with experience architecting large and complex initiatives that have significant impact to the organization.
  • Considered an expert in architecting solutions for the Financial Crimes domain; specifically, in Global Anti Money Laundering, Compliance, Insider Risk, Global Securities, and Fraud Risk Management. This includes experience working with major vendors that provide enterprise grade solutions such as Oracle, FICO, SAS, etc. It also includes experience in architecting solutions for Transaction Monitoring, Customer Risk Rating, Negative News, Fraud, & Customer Screening.
  • Technical Experience implementing software packages used to support the detection of Financial and Insider Crimes. (5yrs)
  • Demonstrated experience in providing technical leadership, consulting and direction to a larger team on all aspects of architecture to ensure advanced learning occurs.
  • Experience in data analytics, model development, data mining, data exploration, statistics, identity linking, and artificial intelligence for use within financial crimes detection.
  • Ability to serve as the top technical individual expert who can impart knowledge of architecture related to specific domains or broad range of architecture frameworks, technologies, tools, processes, procedures and broader technologies and relevant issues.
  • Advanced and highly specialized knowledge of TD applications, programming languages, industry best practices, the business and associated standards, infrastructure and architectural design and solutions and governance.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously as an architectural specialist on high profile, complex and high risk technology projects with significant organizational impact.
  • Ability to translate complex Business and Technology Strategy into a meaningful Architecture.
  • Experience architecting solutions for different target topologies, virtualized, private cloud, or public cloud (preferably with Microsoft Azure).
  • Proactive thinking when it comes to providing recommendations on value-added architectural improvements and enhancements.
  • Capacity to take on one or more areas of focus (e.g. enterprise, data, application and technology architecture domains).
  • Strong working understanding and experience in Microservice and Event Driven Architecture. (3+yrs)
  • Strong working understanding of relational database systems: Oracle and MS SQL. (5+yrs)
  • Good understanding of BI Tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, and SSRS. (3+yrs)
  • Excellent knowledge in Security Architecture (Cloud security [specifically with Microsoft Azure], PCI, Data Encryption, Data Obfuscation, SAML, OAUTH2, Vulnerability Management, Data Security, etc). (5+yrs)
  • Strong understanding of Web Services and micro service architecture (Rest, API). (5+yrs)
  • Solid understanding of Architecture frameworks, methodologies, boundaries, and tools. (5+yrs)
  • Deep awareness, knowledge and experience of controls & governance issues affecting LOB and IT.
  • Strong research capabilities to find best of breed software, technology and solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge in developing large scale Enterprise mission critical systems that support the 24x7 nature of our business environment.

  • Act as primary subject matter expert with specialized knowledge related to architecting solutions for the GAML & CDG lines of business.
  • Work autonomously on highly complex, visible and diverse programs, including multiple related projects and workstreams.
  • Be a big-picture thinker, with the ability to anticipate architectural gaps and identify emerging trends through both advanced business acumen and highly specialized technical knowledge of:
  • TD and its applications,
  • programming languages,
  • industry best practices,

  • and architectural design / solutions
  • Through collaboration with Enterprise Architect, influences product direction and integrate technology from an architectural perspective within the business environment.
  • Possess exceptional oral and written communication skills. Ability to document complex technological solutions while at the same time be able to present the solution in lay terms.
  • Familiarity with architectural governance to ensure solutions meet architecture boundaries and characteristics.
  • Ensure projects comply with technology domain architecture, design and operate processes to help review ongoing activity against technology architecture and development standards.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Domain Architects to provide details of technology solutions to the business partner, including annual plan input, Architecture Vision, and Business and Technology Target State (BATTS) collaboration, that aids the development of future LOB initiatives.
  • Work with external vendors and service providers as needed to ensure compliance with TD Architectural, Security, Cloud, and Data standards.
  • Research and analyze business requirements to recommend optimal architecture solutions.
  • Impart subject matter expertise to influence vendors on product design, develop and contribute to third-party contract negotiations, where applicable.
  • Contribute to project plan development, offer input, manage projects and initiatives, direct assigned resources as needed, communicate project status and ensure timely issue escalation.
  • Work closely with project stakeholders (IT Managers, Project Managers, Business & Technology Solution teams, etc.) to complete projects and build consensus.
  • Provide recommendations on value-added architectural improvements / enhancements.
  • Participate as a member of the GAML Technology Management Team and participate in the GAML Design Authority in order to provide overall technology leadership, as informed of the ongoing and future activities.
  • Develop end-to-end (cross platform/LOB) solution architecture for projects to address concerns/issues impacting technology areas within the Enterprise.
  • Proven leadership and organizational awareness skills and desire to contribute to and drive business strategy in light of changing technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory rules and / or restrictions as they relate to Anti Money Laundering.
  • Identify, recommend, source, negotiate, implement emerging IT trends, developments and improvements and solutions (buy, build, reuse) to ultimately recommend best of breed software, technology and solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge in developing mission critical systems that support the 24x7 nature of our business environment.
  • Lead in knowledge transfer meetings with senior management, team, other technical areas and business units.
