Fuel Manager

based in

Dartmouth, NS

.




Position Overview:





The Fuel Manager will be responsible for overseeing fuel management operations, ensuring cost efficiency, compliance, and operational effectiveness. This role requires strong leadership, collaboration with multiple departments, and a proactive approach to fuel program management.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:




Foster a positive environment of trust, open communication, and accountability within the fuel department. Collaborate with all operations departments and terminals to resolve fuel-related issues. Audit fuel programs and prepare detailed reports on fuel usage, cost trends, and discrepancies. Analyze and implement strategies to optimize fuel expenditures. Coordinate, assign and review the work of the fuel analyst team to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Improve or implement efficient working procedures or processes to enhance fuel management and opportunities for automation. Provide training and guidance to team members to enhance their knowledge and performance. Ensure policies and procedures are followed according to established company guidelines. Oversee fuel card management, including issuing, tracking, and reporting. Oversee fuel prices and develop strategies to mitigate cost fluctuations. Identify and address potential fuel theft or fraud through audits and control measures.

Education and Experience Criteria:




Leadership in the transportation and logistics industry or related field. A background in finance or a related field is an asset. Experience in a supervisory or management role required. Working knowledge of fuel pricing, fuel card management, and identifying and eliminating fuel theft is a strong advantage.

Technical Skills:




Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.). Experience with TMW, TruckMate or similar transportation management systems is considered an asset.

Working Conditions:




Fast-paced, deadline-driven terminal/office environment. High volume of communication via email and phone.
