Job Purpose

Reporting to the Director, Casino Operations, the Manager, Security is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the Casino Security operations, while ensuring the implementation of effective internal controls, appropriate segregation of duties and the delivery of exceptional customer service. The incumbent is responsible for long term planning, departmental budgets, capital planning and inventory management. When assigned, this position performs the activities of the on-duty Operations Manager, overseeing the full casino operations and is the point person for all customer or operational issues within the casino.

The Operations Manager responsibilities rotates between the casino managers.


Job Responsibilities

Oversee the security program which includes the safety and wellbeing of employees and customers, the protection and safekeeping of all physical assets, and ensures all policies and procedures are followed. Develop, manage, and maintain Casino security programs. (e.g., Traka Key systems, First Aid Programs, Lost and Found and supplies, etc.) Develop and implement strategies to address internal and external security requirements, and other security trends. Develop and maintain a customer service focus in accordance with standards and expectations. Maintain and amend current security protocols and keep them current with applicable legislation. Develop and maintain awareness of safety programs. Work closely with Safety & Health department in coordinating annual Fire Drill exercises as well as Fire Panel Training for department employees. Liaise with other senior security management, and director on recommended training programs. Research, develop, and facilitate internal training for department staff. Submit reports to management, as requested. Follow up on all customer comments/issues, resolve conflicts and initiate investigations when necessary. Research and participate in the purchase of new equipment and supplies on an on-going basis. Develop, implement, and maintain, processes, policies, procedures, departmental standards, and objectives which align with Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries. (MBLL) and ensure department procedures are current, accurate, and consistent. Oversee and lead department activities related to investigative response, including quality control of general investigations, and ensure complex investigations are properly assigned and completed. Provide support and expertise to ensure investigations and investigative strategies are addressed on a case-by-case basis. Ensure compliance with organizational standards and practices in the areas of investigations. Establish systems to support the collection, analysis and dissemination of reports and data. Maintain current knowledge of applicable legislation and latest developments in investigative techniques and technologies. Receive requests and track progress on investigations, ensuring frequent follow-up. Approve all Casino investigative reports; determine whether case is complete, or whether additional progress is required. Maintain appropriate records management of all investigation files, photographs, evidence, and other case information in a centralized location. Ensure the security and confidentiality of all stored information related to investigations. Testify at any court proceedings related to criminal matters resulting from investigations as required. Other related duties as assigned.

Primary Qualifications

A post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Management, Criminology, Law Enforcement or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of five years progressive management experience preferably in a security environment. Experience in a gaming or related industry is preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated management experience with the ability to analyze and solve problems independently using good judgment, strong leadership and organizational skills, adoption of best practices, strong initiative and ability as a self-starter, excellent human resource management and labour relations skills, and planning and managing budgets. Experience and proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams) and database management. Knowledge of applicable legislation, criminal codes, and the Manitoba Liquor Control Act. Must attend, remain current and receive a passing mark on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) training. Training is provided on the job. Ongoing professional development is required to keep current with changes in the industry. These competencies are deemed important for the success of the position and organization. Satisfactory work performance in the preceding twelve (12) months is a requirement. Attendance rate will be a factor in the pre-screening process.

Secondary Qualifications


----------------------------


Experience in conducting investigations, providing security services and/or administering a security system is an asset. Experience in a gaming industry is considered an asset. Bilingual French/English language skills are an asset.

Vacation



Accrue up to 10 paid vacation days per year during the first 2 years of employment. Accrue 15 paid vacation days per year after 3 years of employment.
