ROLE PURPOSE



This position will provide pre-release support, planning and coordination to prison inmates who are soon to be released. The Federal Reintegration Worker identifies and provides intervention and transitional support services to federally incarcerated individuals to reconnect them to their family, community and society. Facilitate workshops and support groups for fathers in the institution and in the community through the Dad H.E.R.O. (Helping Everyone Realize Opportunities) Project. This is a Criminal Justice focused role.



STATUS AND CLASSIFICATION

Unionized. This position is open to applicants of all genders.



WORKING HOURS (40 HOURS PER WEEK)



Monday - Friday; 0900-1700

Please note this position is temporary and will run from Oct. 1st 2025 to March 31st 2026.

REPORTING AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS



Reports and is accountable to the Program Manager or their designate Liaises with staff and volunteers of community and government agencies as required Liaises with the staff of Connective (Connective) as necessary Accepts clinical direction from the care team Participates as a member of the Connective staff team

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES



Meets with clients and assesses their suitability for services offered by the program. Makes referrals to other programs, agencies, and/or community resources. Assists clients to adapt to and maintain a pro-social lifestyle in their local community by providing suitable referrals. Assists clients in obtaining access to resources and treatments. Assists clients to obtain temporary or permanent housing either directly or in coordination with other community services. Provides information that helps clients to make better-informed choices. Advocates for clients and assists them in self-advocacy. Liaises with other agencies, professionals and the community. Ensures appropriate systems and environments are in place to support pre-release program and preparing clients for community reintegration. Maintains accurate, complete and up to date records relating to the clients in CAMS, OMS, and hardcopy files in accordance with CSC and agency directives. Maintains effective working relationships with intra-agency program staff, good relations with federal institutional staff, other community agencies, professionals, government officials, and the community at large. Arranges for and participates in regular case conferences with Institutional Parole Officers, support staff, and respective clients. In this respect, contributes to the evaluation of resident progress and provides input into reports as deemed appropriate. Responsible for pre-release support, planning and coordination for those who are soon to be released from federal institutions into the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver Areas. Participates in the Dad H.E.R.O. Training workshop provided. Facilitates the Dad training program within a federal institution. Facilitates Dad Support Groups within a federal institution and in the community. Completes all required reporting and statistics for the Dad H.E.R.O. project. Other responsibilities in keeping with the Dad H.E.R.O. project. Performs other related duties.

WORKING CONDITIONS



Functions independently, while remaining a crucial member of the care team Adheres to Connective policies and procedures Is available to work flexible hours as needed. May include some evenings/weekends, as determined by program/client needs and schedules Is a member of CUPE Local 1936-11 Receives benefits and work within the working conditions as outlined in the collective agreement and personnel manual

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS



Two-year diploma or University Degree in a criminal justice, social sciences, psychology or equivalent Experience working with clients who have extensive histories of being in conflict with the law, serious substance abuse issues, and mental health concerns Direct program delivery experience in the community social services sector with a demonstrated working knowledge of community-based programs and related provincial and community-based Specific program, legislation/policy, provincial and other government frameworks and systems, labour relations or professional knowledge Excellent interpersonal behaviour, Organization, time and general management skills. Ability to work independently Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

REQUIREMENTS



Ability to successfully complete an RCMP Criminal Record Check with Fingerprinting. Ability to successfully pass a reference check Valid BC Class 5 driver's license

Proof of vaccination for communicable diseases may be required as mandated by Government, Health Authority, and/or funder requirement



Reliability Status Clearance Permanent Residency or Canadian Citizenship Ability to successfully pass a TB screening, reliability clearance Current Emergency First Aid Certificate (Please refer to the Certificates accepted in B.C. - WorkSafeBC).

COMPENSATION



As Connective is a unionized environment, the starting wage is $25.95 per hour. The wage will increase with every 2,000 hours worked up to a maximum of $29.76 per hour.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada, observe their weekly hours limit if under a temporary or study visa, and provide proof of eligibility if selected for the role.
