The FSQA Manager is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of food safety and quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and regulatory agencies. This role oversees the implementation and maintenance of food safety systems such as HACCP, GMPs, allergen controls, and third-party certifications (e.g., BRCGS, SQF), while driving continuous improvement in product quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Safety & Compliance:
Develop, implement, and maintain food safety and quality programs, including
HACCP
,
GMP
,
SSOPs
, allergen control, traceability, and sanitation programs.
Ensure compliance with
FDA
,
USDA
, and other regulatory agencies as well as third-party certification standards (e.g.,
BRCGS
,
SQF
).
Serve as site lead during audits and inspections (customer, regulatory, and third-party).
Quality Assurance:
Monitor production processes for adherence to quality standards and specifications.
Manage quality testing protocols and resolve any product deviations or non-conformities.
Lead root cause analysis and implement
Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
.
Team Leadership:
Supervise and develop the FSQA team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
Foster a culture of food safety and continuous improvement across departments.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate and current documentation, including SOPs, audit reports, and quality records.
Analyze quality data and report trends and KPIs to senior leadership with actionable insights.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Operations, R&D, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to ensure quality and food safety are integrated into all processes.
Participate in product development and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in
Food Science
,
Microbiology
,
Chemistry
, or a related field.
5+ years
of food manufacturing quality assurance experience, with
2+ years in a management or supervisory role
.
Certified in
HACCP
and/or
PCQI
(Preventive Controls Qualified Individual);
BRCGS/SQF
experience preferred.
In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, industry standards, and auditing practices.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management software.
