Job Summary

We are seeking individuals to provide support to adults with intellectual disabilities in an employment setting. Following schedules and providing program opportunities in lifeskills, social skills and job skills is the main focus of the successful candidates.

Responsibilities

Train, monitor, counsel and supervise clients in training and non-training environments. Complete required paperwork. Assist with client needs in terms of hygiene, counselling and behaviour management as required. Follow outlined schedules and routines. Assist with IESP goal setting/planning/review. Provide transportation for clients as required in Cieva vehicle or own personal vehicle. Mediate issues between clients in the first instance. Learn tasks in Recycling and Wood Shop so you can help with clients and operations when needed. Show respect to clients even during times of challenge for them. This includes both verbal and non verbal communication.

Job Requirements / Essential Duties:

1-3 years of experience working with intellectually challenged adults in combination with education and experience will be considered.

Strong communication skills both verbal and written.

Strong organizational skills.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to work with challenged adults using respect, compassion and patience.

Proficient record keeping skills.

Ability to use Microsoft Office Programs.

Drivers licence with own vehicle, insurable to transport clients.

Ability to work (stand, walk) on cement and /or pavement for prolonged periods of up to 3-4 hours at a time

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.71-$18.80 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 35 per week

Work Location: In person
