Responsibilities:
The Frontline Supervisor will be involved in pre-mobilization activities and the preparation of pre-bid documentation, including assisting with bid package assembly and contractor bid evaluations. They will also contribute to project execution planning, such as design reviews, model reviews, and Construction Work Package (CWP) development. In addition:
Post-Award Phase:
Lead team reviews and jointly approve contractor project documentation (e.g., JSA, ERP, Execution Plans, ITPs).
Execution Phase:
Communicate known or potential site hazards to contractors; ensure hazards are included in Safe Work Agreements.
Verify contractor compliance with project documentation; identify and document variances, risks, and mitigations.
Ensure higher-risk activities and scope changes are properly risk-assessed using the Cenovus Risk Matrix.
Participate in contractor field activities, including walkdowns, deficiency resolution, and demobilization.
Post-Execution Phase:
Engage in contractor close-out processes and lessons learned sessions.
Technical Expertise:
Demonstrate strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and best practices.
Experience installing high-voltage switchgear, control systems, VFDs, and DCS systems in both Greenfield and Brownfield settings.
Safety & Quality:
Support and enforce Cenovus Safety Initiatives and Safety Management System.
Participate in field hazard assessments, wear required PPE, and mentor peers on safety practices.
Review and verify adherence to Cenovus specifications, including ITPs, turnover packages, quality audits, and walkdowns.
Project Controls:
Contribute to project scheduling by understanding contractor/vendor timelines and verifying progress.
Identify schedule risks, support development of recovery plans, and communicate findings to the project team.
Cost Control & Reporting:
Review and approve contractor/vendor LEMs (hours, personnel, equipment - excluding rates).
Validate accuracy of daily and forecast reporting, including identifying variances and contractor mitigation plans.
Risk & Issue Management:
Proactively identify and resolve risks in Safety, Quality, Cost, and Schedule domains.
Coordinate with key Cenovus stakeholders (Operations, Maintenance, Completions, Regulatory, etc.).
Communication & Leadership:
Deliver daily progress reports, risk updates, and look-aheads.
Maintain strong working relationships with contractors, peers, and functional teams.
Actively participate in toolbox talks, coordination meetings, and keep detailed daily logs of key interactions and updates.
Support thorough evaluation and validation of contractor submissions to ensure alignment with Cenovus standards.
Qualifications
/ Education / Certifications:
Red seal Journeyman Electrician or Instrumentation OR Diploma in electrical or instrumentation technology (Required)
PMP or other formal project administration training would be considered an asset
Strong fundamental understanding of Mechanical Project execution
Experience as an E&I field coordinator or Supervisor in a Projects execution environment: 5 - 8 years (Desired)
