The
Calgary Composting Facility (CCF)
, a $143 million facility, began operations in July 2017. The CCF is currently undergoing an expansion to include an anaerobic digestion (AD) module, the facility will soon convert food and yard waste into renewable natural gas--adding 60,000 tonnes of processing capacity to support the Green Cart program. This expansion is expected to be completed in early 2026. The facility currently processes over 145,500 metric tons of residential food and yard waste and dewatered biosolids annually, and the new AD technology will further reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The facility is located adjacent to the Shepard Waste Management Facility, south of 114th Avenue and 68 Street SE.
Please note:
Public transportation options to the facility are limited. Reliable access to a personal vehicle is strongly recommended for commuting purposes prior to pursuing this opportunity.
