Position Summary

The cashier position at Market Fresh is responsible for providing fast, friendly, and accurate checkout service to customers. This role involves scanning items, handling payments, issuing receipts, and ensuring a pleasant experience at the front end of the store. Cashiers are also expected to answer customer inquiries, assist with bagging items, and help maintain cleanliness and organization at the register area. As the last point of contact in the shopping experience, the cashier plays a key role in customer satisfaction and store efficiency.

Job Structure

This is a part time, hourly wage position. Work schedule includes weekends and holidays as required. Paid vacation accrual at 4%.

Responsibilities

Greet customers promptly and courteously. Operate cash register, barcode scanner, and credit card/debit terminals. Accurately scan and bag groceries. Collect payments by cash, credit/debit card, EBT, or other approved methods. Maintain a clean and organized checkout station. Answer customer questions and provide assistance or direct them to the appropriate department. Report any pricing discrepancies, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns to management. Follow all cash handling procedures and loss prevention guidelines.

Skills and Experience

Previous cashier or customer service experience. Basic math and computer skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and accuracy in handling transactions. Ability to contribute to a team culture in fast paced work environment. Multi-tasking skills. Passion for food and community. Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
