Together we are more than 5,000 dedicated faculty, librarians and staff supporting the University of Victoria\'s diverse academic programs, world-class research and commitment to civic engagement.Job SummaryAs a member of the Campus Security team providing security, personal safety, parking, motor pool and emergency planning and reporting to the Front Office Supervisor, the Front Office Clerk is the first point of contact for members of the campus community and the public for enquiries and resolving issues. The Front Counter Clerk is responsible for the delivery of front office services, including parking permit sales, citation resolution, data entry, campus lost and found, motor pool and both bicycle and equipment locker rentals.The Front Office Clerk works with members of the campus community, and the broader off campus community that attend the office, phone or email regarding any of the services that Campus Security provides. As the primary person responsible for counter service, the Front Office Clerk works both collaboratively and independently within the Campus Security team to deliver all point of sale products. The Front Office Clerk may escalate complex issues to the Front Office Supervisor or Management, as required.Shifts may be adjusted seasonally based on the operational demands of peak service periods.Job RequirementsSkills:

  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills that convey appropriate use of grammar, professionalism and language.
  • Communications skills that foster effective team communication to ensure sharing of relevant and timely information.
  • Ability to work in an environment with constant interruptions.
  • Display initiative, good organizational and time management skills, and ability to work with deadlines by prioritizing accordingly.
  • Working knowledge of point of sales equipment, standard office equipment and related software (e.g. MS Office)
Specialized Knowledge/Education:
  • Knowledge of retail and office financial administration
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, FMIS, FAST, Banner.
Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Requires at least one year of related experience in retail sales, services and office administration.
  • Experience dealing with personal, confidential and sensitive information.
  • Experience working in a post-secondary environment would be considered an asset.
