EIPS is recruiting a temporary full-time (1.0 FTE)French Immersion Curriculum and READ Teacher with our Support for Students department. This assignment will be comprised of

French Immersion Curriculum Teacher (0.60 FTE) and Grade 2 French Immersion READ (Reading Enrichment and Development) Program for a total of (1.0 FTE).









Supports for Students is located at the Trillium Centre, 121 Crimson Drive, Sherwood Park. Central administration is comprised of eight departments, in addition to the Board of Trustees. The departments include Education Executive, Communication Services, Facility Services, Student Transportation, Human Resources, Financial Services, Supports for Students, and Information Technologies. Supports for Students provides services for the division in a variety of areas, including curriculum, assessment, pedagogy, and educational technology. Supports for Students is located at the Trillium Centre, 121 Crimson Drive, Sherwood Park.

The successful applicant who is a continuous teacher with EIPS will be able to return to their current school/position for the 2026-27 school year.


SFS is looking for one French Immersion teacher to develop resources (toolkits, assessments, activities, and lessons, etc.) in Social Studies for Kindergarten to Grade 6 to support the implementation of the new curriculum. Note: resource development will be conducted in English, and then professionally translated to French. Some of the duties may include:

Staying current with curriculum as changes are made by the Government of Alberta Developing resources that align with Elk Island Public Schools Draft Scope and Sequence Providing input, and receiving direction from the EIPS Instructional Supports department Assisting with professional development sessions for teachers and administrators to support Social Studies curriculum implementation Working collaboratively with other teachers and EIPS consultants Attending professional development sessions focusing on curriculum Aligning the elementary report card categories and assessments with the curriculum Providing insight and perspective into French language and cultural components of curriculum
Validate French translation of resources, when necessary





The READ program is an intensive intervention program designed to provide direct support to Grade 2 French Immersion students identified as having reading disabilities. Travel will be required.

Teachers will work with groups of students or one-on-one providing intensive intervention instruction over a specified time. Teachers will provide information and support to classroom teachers, administrators and parents throughout the intervention timeline. Students will be instructed based on the Five Pillars of Reading and will be given explicit, systematic teaching that meets their individual needs. Students will also be provided with strategies to use outside of intervention programming to help support their learning in everyday classroom activities. Careful data collection, anecdotal notes and record keeping will be collected to determine the programs success.

Qualifications:




Bachelor of Education degree Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate Experience teaching French Immersion in Division 1 and /or 2 Experience and knowledge of literacy best practices in Division 1 Participation in Early Literacy Initiative Level 1 and Level 2 is an asset Effective organization and time management skills Knowledge of strong instructional strategies and differentiation Excellent verbal and written skills Experience or familiarity with analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction Strong collaboration and teamwork skills Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice Relentless drive to set and achieve personal and professional goals Experience or familiarity with SharePoint and various technology Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Teams An understanding of the Alberta Provincial Resource Review Guide Knowledge and understanding of the use of artificial intelligence platforms A commitment to Teaching Quality Standard 5 - Applying Foundational Knowledge about First Nations, Metis and Inuit
