Compensation:
Starting at $250 per week, based on available current news stories
Miracle Channel is home to Bridge City News, and we're looking for a freelance video journalist who would primarily cover stories from Medicine Hat & the surrounding towns. The successful candidate will take on assignments for the day to support the overall content needs of Bridge City News and its social media strategy. This includes, but is not limited to: writing, shooting & editing individual stories, segments for exclusive online release, supplemental coverage for our Lethbridge video journalists, and featured investigative segments that highlight something that directly affects southern Albertans.
Freelance Video Journalist Contributions:
Minimum of twice weekly contributions with the opportunity for additional contributions based on quality of stories that present themselves.
Some flexibility is required.
Some travel might be required.
Requirements:
Valid Driver's License in good standing
Above average communication & language skills
Own your own video journalist gear
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Experience in media, journalism or a broadcast/new media college level program that is directly applicable to this job.
Ability to process large amounts of information in a fast-paced environment and produce quality content in an efficient manner.
Highly organized with attention to detail
Ability to meet aggressive deadlines as assigned.
Intermediate or higher understanding of post-production tools such as Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Photoshop.
Knowledge of, and experience with social media distribution & back-end workings to optimize workflow will benefit this candidate greatly.
Excellence in professionalism in the office, in studio, and out in community while on assignment.
Interest in newsgathering and strong written copy are a must.
Basic production experience: lighting, camera operation and/or audio technician would be an asset.
