Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher to join our team on a freelance basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to helping learners from diverse backgrounds improve their English language skills, fostering an engaging and supportive learning environment. This role involves teaching students of varying ages and proficiency levels, utilizing innovative teaching methods to enhance language acquisition.

Duties

Conduct engaging activities that promote speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in English. Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their learning journey. Create a positive learning atmosphere that encourages participation and fosters learner confidence in using the English language.

Skills

Strong command of the English language with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience in teaching ESL or related fields. Ability to create engaging lesson plans that cater to different learning styles and proficiency levels. Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills to effectively connect with learners from diverse cultural backgrounds. Organizational skills to manage learning activities, student records, and lesson planning efficiently.

2 Youth learners Lesson format: Individual and in-person Location: Vancouver Public Library - Kitsilano Branch - 2425 Macdonald St, Vancouver, BC V6K 2G6, Canada Lesson frequency: 2x per week with each learner Availability during summer school vacation: Mon, Wed and Thu in the afternoon (between 12:00 and 16:00) Availability from September onwards: After school Learner's native language: French and Romanian. They learned Swedish at school Start date: ASAP - July 2025 Language goals: Socializing, language support for school, and daily life.
