About KAV

KAV is a Toronto based premier audio-visual solutions provider specializing in high-quality professional AV installations for commercial environments. As we expand our project pipeline for 2025, we are looking for dedicated, highly skilled freelance installers to join our preferred vendor network.

Position Overview

We are seeking Experienced Freelance AV Installers to lead and support on-site installations. This is not an entry-level role; we require technicians who can work independently, interpret complex signal flow diagrams, and troubleshoot high-end integrated systems on the fly. You will be responsible for the physical installation, wiring, and initial configuration of AV hardware in diverse settings.

Key Responsibilities

System Installation: Perform professional installation of AV components including speakers, LED video walls, large-format displays, projectors, motorized screens, and distributed audio systems.

Infrastructure & Cabling: Execute precision cable pulls, terminations (RJ45, BNC, XLR, etc.), and rack dressing to industry-leading standards.

Hardware Integration: Mount and secure equipment in racks, ceilings, and walls, ensuring all safety protocols and structural requirements are met.

Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve signal routing, control system connectivity, and audio-related issues during the commissioning phase.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including updated "as-built" diagrams and inventory reports.

Required Skills & Experience

Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in commercial AV installation.

Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of signal flow, video switching (Crestron, Extron, or similar), and digital audio protocols (Dante, AES67). Experience in commercial construction environments, including understanding wall structures and proficiency with Unistrut mounting systems.

Tools: Must possess a complete set of professional hand and power tools suitable for AV installation and termination.

Problem Solving: Proven ability to troubleshoot complex systems under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs), work on ladders/lifts, and stand for extended periods.
