Job Description

Free Play for Kids is seeking enthusiastic Head Coaches to join our Free to Play program on a part-time basis. If you excel at engaging with children and possess exceptional interpersonal skills, we want you on our team. As a Free to Play Head Coach you will be responsible for being the coaching lead at one of the 24 elementary schools in our Free to Play program.

A successful candidate will be responsible for working with youth beyond traditional coaching methods by incorporating a focus on holistic development including physical literacy, social-emotional learning, and nutritional literacy. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in sports who are eager to be inspiring leaders and mentors. Education & Qualifications:



? Working towards or completed, a degree or diploma in Physical Education, Sport, and Recreation, Kinesiology, Education, Sociology, Psychology, Early Childhood Education, or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution.

? Minimum 2 years experience working with youth such as coaching, social work, in-school services, after-school programs, day homes, or summer camps.

? Experience managing or leading a team.

? Standard First Aid Certification and CPR training or ability to obtain quickly.

? Valid driver's license with a reliable vehicle.

? Clear up-to-date Criminal and Vulnerable Sector check.

? Experience playing a variety of sports is considered a major asset.

? Valid certifications in coaching would be considered a major asset.

? Experience in customer service and maintaining positive communication is considered a major asset.

? Proficient with using Amilia, Connecteams, Google Suite, and all its applications is considered a major asset.

Key Responsibilities:



? Programming Tasks (80% of the role):

? Being responsible for maintaining the attendance list to ensure proper check-ins and check-outs are conducted each day.

? Coaching and leading the execution of the curriculum and lesson plan.

? Supervising all children in the session, ensuring that the Rule of Two is maintained at all times.

? Delivering weekly food sessions based on nutritional literacy

? Training & Development Tasks (17% of the role):

? Participating in weekly curriculum meetings and reviewing the weekly lesson plans.

? Completing additional training and certifications as required through the Free Play training program.

? Administrative Tasks (3% of the role):

? Providing updates to the Regional Manager regarding schedule changes, special events, weekly updates, and following up on incidents and behavior challenges.

? Keeping up with policies and procedures to know what to do in case of emergency, and proper follow-up of incidents.

Position Conditions



? Hours of work are determined by program schedule and are typically

? Monday - Wednesday and Friday from 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm.

? Thursdays from 2:00 pm - 5:30 pm.

? The job is performed in schools and recreation settings, but work settings may vary depending on the project.
