Job Summary
Carbon Steel Buildings Inc. is seeking an experienced
Lead Hand Carpenter/Wood Framer
to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction and wood framing, with proven experience building and assembling structural frameworks. This role involves leading and mentoring a small crew, overseeing quality control, maintaining a safe workspace, and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.

Duties
Lead and mentor carpenter helpers and junior crew members
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements
Measure, cut, assemble, and install wood framing for walls, floors, and roofs
Perform general and/or finishing carpentry duties as assigned
Ensure all framing is structurally sound, square, level, and in compliance with building codes
Maintain quality control and ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard
Collaborate with crew foremen, site supervisors, and other trades to meet deadlines
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, identifying potential hazards promptly
Use hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely and effectively
Perform routine maintenance and care of tools and equipment
Skills
Minimum 3-5 years' experience in wood framing and carpentry (residential or commercial)
Strong knowledge of rough framing techniques and general residential construction
Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints
Sound understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and best practices
Leadership experience or ability to mentor and direct a small team
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and communication abilities
Physically capable of lifting heavy materials and working at heights
Reliable transportation and valid driver's license (required)
Own basic hand tools, work boots, and PPE (hard hat, gloves, safety glasses)
Red Seal or Journeyman Carpenter certification is an asset, not mandatory
Experience with hand-framed rafter layout or high-end residential construction is an asset
Certifications such as Fall Arrest, First Aid, WHMIS considered an asset

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
