I am looking for an FP&A Business Partner for a manufacturing firm in Ville Saint Laurent:
The FP&A Operations Financial Partner is a strategic financial advisor who supports the National VP of Operations in optimizing cost structure, improving productivity, and protecting profitability.
Responsibilities
Cost of sales management:
- Monitor and analyze variances in materials, labor, and overhead costs compared to standard costs.
- Collaborate with the accounting department to ensure accurate inventory valuation and expense recognition.
Operational performance analysis:
- Track and report KPIs related to manufacturing efficiency, OEE, scrap, yield, and capacity utilization.
- Analyze trends in production costs, overtime, plant downtime, and process efficiency.
- Identify cost savings opportunities and operational improvement levers.
Supply chain and logistics support:
- Analyze purchase price variances and collaborate with buyers to identify root causes and cost savings opportunities.
- Analyze freight cost per unit, warehousing costs, and distribution network performance.
- Support manufacturing versus purchasing decisions, supplier cost benchmarking, and inbound/outbound flow optimization.
- Validate logistics-related provisions and coordinate with accounting for accurate record keeping.
Inventory and working capital monitoring:
- Monitor slow-moving, obsolete, and excess inventory.
- Support inventory reduction initiatives and working capital optimization.
- Reconcile inventory movements and cycle count variances with plant controllers.
Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis:
- Lead bottom-line budgeting and ongoing forecasting for manufacturing and supply chain.
- Provide cost forecasts by plant, product category, and resource type.
- Investigate budget variances and support root cause analysis.
Investment support (Capex/Opex):
- Support investment cases with cost-benefit analyses and ROI modeling.
- Ensure alignment of capital expenditures with productivity and savings objectives.
- Track ROI and savings realization from operational investments.
ERP and data integrity:
- Ensure the integrity of master data relating to costs and inventory (valuation class, income statement, cost centers).
- Participate in system upgrades, cost calculations, and ERP testing from a financial perspective.
Technical skills:
- In-depth knowledge of cost accounting with a solid understanding of business operations.
- Proven ability to challenge and support operations management in a constructive manner.
- Advanced experience with Excel and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, etc.).
- Comfortable working in the field, conducting visits, and validating data.
Interpersonal skills:
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
- Strategic thinker with a good understanding of operational principles
- Good organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or industrial engineering with an accounting profile. CPA or CMA required.
- 8 to 10 years of experience in finance or cost accounting, including more than 2 years supporting plant operations or finance.
- Experience in industrial sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, or supply chain required.
- Good understanding of standard cost accounting, budgeting, variance analysis, and cost flows.
- Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written.
