MAIN PURPOSE:



Position Overview



The Delivery Driver plays a key role in distributing Pelee Island Winery products locally and regionally, ensuring timely and safe deliveries while maintaining excellent customer service. As a representative of the Pelee brand, professionalism, patience, and strong communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate should have experience with liquor delivery, strong time management abilities, and attention to detail in documentation and inventory tracking.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities



MUST HAVE valid D or AZ license with an acceptable driver's abstract

Driving & Delivery Execution:



Safely operate company vehicles to transport goods to various locations. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring it is in safe operating condition. Route planning to optimize delivery efficiency and minimize delays. Execute deliveries on schedule while maintaining high customer service standards. Handle and transport liquor responsibly, following legal regulations. Communicate with central dispatch using mobile communication equipment when necessary. Scan and sort freight or cargo for delivery, ensuring accuracy. Record fuel and mileage data for tracking purposes. Other duties as assigned by Manager.

Customer Service & Communication:



Provide courteous and professional service to customers during deliveries. Maintain clear and effective communication via text, email, or phone with the logistics team and clients. Address customer inquiries and resolve delivery-related issues as needed.

Inventory & Warehouse Management:



Assist with order picking and preparation before delivery. Ensure proper documentation and tracking of deliveries, including invoices and receipts. Maintain organization within the warehouse, including light cleaning and stocking. Follow Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations.

Vehicle Maintenance & Safety:

Conduct regular vehicle safety checks and schedule maintenance as needed. Ensure compliance with all traffic laws and company safety policies. Handle materials manually and operate delivery equipment safely.

Skills & Qualifications:



Valid Ontario "D" license with a clean driving record. Good knowledge of GTA highways, roads, and traffic patterns. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Strong time management skills to meet tight delivery schedules. Patience and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Basic mathematical skills for order verification and documentation. Experience in liquor delivery is preferred. Familiarity with electronic devices such as GPS, computers, phones, and printers. Documentation skills for recording fuel usage, mileage, and delivery records. TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) certification is considered an asset. Forklift certification required.

Physical Requirements:



Ability to lift and carry up to 20kg over 20 meters repeatedly. Adequate vision for driving and route navigation. Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle. Handling materials manually, including bending, twisting, and repetitive motions.

Work Environment:



Outside exposure to weather conditions. Driving in an enclosed vehicle for long periods. Indoor environments that may be environmentally controlled or not. Extreme temperatures and varying lighting conditions.
