We are looking for a Foreperson, Signals to join our team!What You Will DoReporting to the Supervisor - Signals, you will be responsible for overseeing and supervising the work carried out in the Section (in stations, yards, facilities, repair shops, and throughout TTC properties). This will involve the installation, maintenance, repair and testing of various electrical systems and/or equipment. You will work with computerized systems, prevention systems (i.e., fire detection), and many other safety systems. In this role, you may work with electronic and electrical equipment, power distribution equipment, and cables that provide traction power for streetcar, subway and RT services.You will inspect equipment and/or systems (i.e., electrical, technical, structural), test, and repair as necessary. You will also review, modify, and update or upgrade systems and databases on an on-going basis (both hardware and software) as new information relevant to work is introduced.
As a Foreperson - Signals, you will be responsible for administrative and supervisory duties such as training subordinate employees, approving/authorizing requests, timekeeping, scheduling, writing reports, and budgeting. You will plan and assign project work, schedules, costs and systems as needed. You will also liaise with other colleagues, support staff, other departments, and potentially external customers or stakeholders concerning routine matters related to the work assigned.You will conduct site meetings, develop and organize materials or procedures, provide technical expertise, guidance, assistance and make recommendations as needed. You will also review, process, and monitor information (data, records, processes and/or equipment inventory), following up, and updating as required. You will also be responsible for addressing environmental, safety, and other compliance issues related to operations in the Section/Department. You will record information and communications (i.e., reports, estimates, employee-related documented, schedules, inventory), store it appropriately for Department use and distribute to the appropriate parties in accordance with established standards.As a TTC employee, you will be responsible for promoting a respectful work and service environment that supports diversity, inclusion, and is free from harassment and discrimination.
