Job Description

As a Foreman, Steel, you will oversee field operations. You will be responsible for executing the daily production plan, monitoring quality, and managing your team. You will also work with management to drive continuous process improvements and address production issues.



More specifically, you will:


1. Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)




Ensure production activities are carried out safely and in compliance with environmental standards. Collaborate with the Human Resources and OHS Departments to address disciplinary measures related to safety. Ensure employees receive the necessary HSE training.

2. Quality




Follow up on tasks that do not meet quality standards and need to be reworked. Monitor production-related documents, such as work instructions and non-compliance reports. Participate in improving production processes to reduce rework. Review procedures and work instructions, and recommend changes to support continuous improvement.

3. Costs, Production, and Performance




Plan daily operations to ensure production objectives are met. Manage and verify daily production reports. Discuss obstacles to planned production and propose solutions to meet deadlines.

4. Coordination and Leadership




Supervise a production team and ensure its members are engaged and motivated. Answer employee questions and ensure production expectations are understood and met. Collaborate with the ship immediate supervisor on employee performance and probation evaluations. Respond appropriately to actions requiring disciplinary measures, in consultation with production managers and the Human Resources Department.

5. Strategic Alignment and Communication




Effectively communicate action plans and monitor progress. Attend and participate in production and management meetings, as needed. Develop efficient work methods to optimize production. Work synergistically with different departments to optimize work planning and execution, ensuring smooth production that meets expectations.

Qualifications




Post-secondary diploma in a field related to steel work (e.g., DVS in Welding and Fitting, DCS in Metallurgy). Work experience in the industrial steel construction sector. Knowledge of welding and fitting defects (CWB standard). Five (5) or more years' experience in personnel management. Experience in a unionized environment. MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Successful completion of the investigation and security clearance process required by the federal government's Contract Security Program.
