Summary
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the successful individual will be responsible for inspecting incoming materials, performing quality checks on finished goods, and collaborating with the production team to resolve quality concerns. This hands-on position also includes supporting health and safety practices, assisting with yard organization, and contributing to continuous plant improvements.
Responsibilities:
Monitor and inspect incoming lumber for defects, damage or non-conformance to specifications
Track and verify the quality of finished pallets, skids, and crates to ensure they meet company and customer standards.
Complete ad hoc spot checks throughout shift for quality.
Maintain accurate records of inspections and quality checks.
Identify and report any recurring quality issues to the Operations Supervisor and escalate as needed to the Plant Manager.
Train and support production staff on quality expectations and best practices.
Collaborate with the production team to resolve quality concerns promptly and efficiently.
Work closely with the production team to maintain schedule flow and meet production goals.
Support daily operations of all staff.
Load orders and/or assist on production line as needed.
Oversee and direct employees accordingly to address housekeeping concerns and improvements through yard presence and site walks / inspections
Ensure compliance with workplace safety and quality regulations.
Health and Safety responsibilities, as prescribed and in line with Ministry of Labour and company expectations.
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Counterbalance / forklift certified (in house or third-party provider).
Quality Assurance in manufacturing course or equivalent considered an asset.
2 years of quality control experience and / or supervisory experience considered an asset.
