is a casual, family-friendly bar located on the second floor of

Cardel Rec South

between Arenas 3 & 4, serving elevated concession fare, a rotating selection of local craft beers, and a special menu designed just for kids. The Bench is proud to serve as both a welcoming destination for everyone in the community and a gathering place for visitors enjoying the recreation centre's four ice arenas, gymnasiums, multi-purpose rooms, and community programs.

The Bench Food & Beverage Manager Responsibilities



Position Overview



The Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for driving revenues and profits by developing, marketing, and financing operations while delivering exceptional guest experiences and managing all staff.
This is a

permanent, full-time salaried role

reporting directly to the General Manager - South Fish Creek Recreation Association.

Restaurant Manager Job Duties:



Drives restaurant success through recruiting and training staff, setting performance standards, and overseeing scheduling. Provide coaching and counseling, enforces policies, and manages disciplinary actions. Communicate job expectations, monitor and evaluate performance, and plans compensation strategies to align with organizational goals.

Maintains safe and healthy facility environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures within the required health and legal regulations.

Maintain operations by implementing policies and operating procedures. Implement needed production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards while determining and implementing system improvements when required.

Maintain customer satisfaction by evaluating, and auditing food, beverage, and service offerings. Introduce improvements and changes when needed to meet changing demands; build strong relationships with preferred patrons.

Establish an updated business plan by surveying restaurant demand; conferring with people in the community; identifying and evaluating competitors.

Work collaboratively with SFCRA Marketing to develop and execute marketing, advertising, and community relations strategies, proactively identifying and tracking emerging trends and changing needs within the community.

Determining budgets for Board of Directors and GM approval, maintain inventories and cost controls oversight for front and back of house operations. Prepare financial, sales projections, analyses, and estimates in collaboration with SFCRA resources.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging trends in the restaurant industry; attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.

Accomplishes company goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Qualifications & Experience



Education/Training:

Diploma or certificate in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is an asset.

Experience:

Minimum

3-5 years of progressive management experience

in a bar, restaurant, or food & beverage operation. Proven track record of achieving financial targets and improving operational performance.

Skills & Abilities:

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team. Excellent financial acumen with experience in budgeting, inventory management, and cost control. Strong marketing and promotional skills, including experience with social media and community engagement. Exceptional customer service and conflict resolution skills. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and event-based hours as required.

Certifications:

Alberta ProServe and Food Safety Certification (or willingness to obtain before start date) required.
