Schedule: Monday to Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Receive, verify orders and store all purchased food and kitchen items
• Receive donated goods, sort and transfer to appropriate area
• Assist cook with preparing and serving of meals
• Place food on the giveaway carts during mealtimes
• Maintain Occupational Health & Safety Standards
• Follow Environmental Health Services Guidelines regarding how food is prepared, handled, and stored
• Oversee stored food rotation
• Keeps all food inventories up to date
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen (floors, countertops, walls)
• Work in dish-pit cleaning cookware and dishes
• Greet and welcomes all donors and volunteers in a professional and respectful manner
• Work alongside volunteers
• Respect and follow necessary boundaries with coworkers, volunteers and guests
• Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• A minimum of one (1) year experience working in the Food Service industry preferred
• Valid certificate from the Alberta Health Services Food Safe course
• Customer service experience
• Ability to successfully prepare food in a commercial kitchen for a large number of children
• Provide alternative meals including preparing dishes based on dietary restrictions/food allergies
• Willingness to obtain the necessary training The Mustard Seed requires
• Ability to resolve conflicts as they arise
• Desire to serve in a Christian ministry
• Other duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Eight-hour shifts scheduled by manager; weekends may be required
• Position is often fast paced in a challenging work environment, requiring substantial mental effort to analyze information and problem solve. Daily interactions with colleagues, guests and volunteers required
• "Hands on" position requiring moderate to significant physical effort required, extended periods of
• standing, walking, sitting, climbing, lifting, reaching, carrying (must be able to lift up to 50 pounds)
