We are an integrated team that provides food and nutrition services to our patients and residents at all sites of St. Joseph's Health Care London. We accomplish this through the procurement, storage, preparation and distribution of safe, high quality food choices in a cost-effective way. Our ultimate goal is to earn complete confidence by providing excellent customer service to ensure a pleasant dining experience and therefore maintain and improve nutritional health and quality of life. Our departments operate within varying shifts from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, seven days a week.

The Food Service Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Food and Nutrition Services Department. The Food Service Specialist (Supervisor) ensures: the best food safety practices are followed; the accuracy of diets, trays and meal delivery; and ensures high quality food and service is provided to patients and residents. They are also responsible for supervising, supporting and scheduling unionized staff. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and will be resident focused in their role as a supervisor.
It is understood that the hours of work reflect the current scheduling arrangements and are subject to change as determined by the Employer.
Essential Qualifications
3 years of experience working directly in the Food & Nutrition industry
1 year of experience in a role with responsibility for day-to-day operations and assignment of work to staff
Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA)
Requires knowledge of food science, menu planning, food production, facility design and maintenance, budgeting and human relations
Membership with the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (not certification)
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation
Skill in use of Microsoft Word and Excel at a Basic proficiency level is an asset
Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to motivate and guide individuals tactfully and respectfully
Must demonstrate excellent organizational, information/data management skills
Must demonstrate well-developed judgment and decision-making skills
Must demonstrate skills that enable them to work independently and, in a group, or team environment/collaborative partnerships
Demonstrated self-awareness and an understanding of personal strengths and weaknesses in pursuit of continuous improvement and advancement of leadership skills
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Must be customer focused, demonstrate an understanding of conflict resolution and able to offer and receive constructive feedback
Able to work all shifts including weekends

Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in French would be an asset
Bachelor's Degree in Food & Nutrition Sciences
Strong understanding of the LTC Standards Act and RAI-MDS
Previous food service experience
Experience using CBORD
Experience in quality improvement

Immunization Requirements
Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
