The

Nigel Program

is a licensed residential program for adults with complex disabilities. The interdisciplinary team at the Nigel Program provides nursing care, personal care, occupational and physical therapy, social work, dietary services, housekeeping services, and recreational therapy to facilitate active living programs.

SUMMARY

Under supervision, carries out a variety of tasks related to food production and/or food service in accordance with established routines. Duties include: preparing food items such as salads, sandwiches, beverages; loading food carts and transporting carts to designated areas; taking and recording food temperatures; setting tables; portioning foods in accordance with portion control systems; portioning special diet items; assembling meals onto plates/trays; replenishing supplies and maintaining records; cleaning counters, cupboards, etc.; scraping and racking and washing soiled dishes; assembling clean dishes and small wares; other related duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

Grade 10 or equivalent; preferably completion of Grade 12

Food Safe Level I Certification required; preferable completion of basic WHMIS training and some basic knowledge of computers

Some knowledge of the routines involved in a food production or food service operation

Related work experience

Must be eligible to work with vulnerable adults, under the BC Criminal Record Review program

Negative TB Screen

Successful applicants will be required to report their vaccination status

Skills & Abilities:

Ability to follow instructions

Ability to interact effectively with co-workers, the public, and the elderly residents

Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job including lifting, bending, reaching, prolonged standing, and walking
