Job Summary


We are seeking a dedicated Food Service Worker/Relief Cook to join our team in providing high-quality meal service in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate reports to the Director of Nutrition Services or designate. The food service worker/relief cook prepares and serves food daily as required for residents, staff and visitors under the direction of the head cook or designate, as outlined in the food service worker/relief cook job description(s).

Qualifications:



Experience in the food service industry of long-term care will be an asset.

Completion of a culinary or cooking program and/ or apprenticeship enrollment will be an asset

.



Must remain current with the certified food handler's course.

Ability to interact professionally with residents, staff, families and other health care providers with a pleasant and cooperative attitude, demonstrating sensitivity, empathy and kindness.

To communicate effectively and professionally.

Must be able to conform to the hours as outlined on the work schedule as well be available for shifts as needed 7 days a week.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet the daily job requirements.

Applicants must be a team player who is organized and energetic and must be physically and mentally capable of performing all duties of the job for which they were hired.

Demonstrated good attendance in current and previous employment.

Job Expectations:



Must be dependable.

Work in partnership with the Director of Nutrition Services and head the cook daily.

Proven ability to regularly and consistently attend work.

You must be flexible to do job tasks as required and hours of work as scheduled.

Hours of work consist of weekdays, weekends and holidays.

Physical Demands:



Standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing / pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity and bending.

Health & Safety Factors:



All employees are responsible for compliance with the organization's occupational health and safety policies and procedures as mandated by the Occupational Health & Safety Act Nova Scotia.

Non-physical Demands:



Our employees must incorporate resident needs and demonstrate the ability to work independently and as a team player.

Position to Commence:



As soon as a suitable candidate is found.

Job Type: Casual

Pay: $18.00-$19.00 per hour
