This recurring position is active for 8 months each year, from mid-August to April, with an inactive period from May to mid-August. Please note that the annual salary will be pro-rated to reflect the active period.
Location - This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at Augustana Campus, Camrose.
Reporting to the Operations Manager Augustana Dining and Conference Services (OM) and the Head Chef (HC), the Food Service Lead Attendant (FSLA) supports the Food Service Department to operate a high quality food services program that meets the needs of students living on campus through the Dining Hall (the most important function and stakeholder).
The FSLA prepares and serves meals for Dining Hall service, catering and Cafe and ensures that high quality food is prepared in a safe and appetizing manner and presented with care and a commitment to strong customer service.
The FSLA is also concerned with the retention of students once they are attending the University; including providing services that will accomplish the following specific objectives:

  • Ensure promptness, freshness and quality dishes that provide students with a high quality and nutritious meal plan.
  • Increase students' satisfaction with the University by providing high quality and diverse food options.
  • Ensuring students feel welcome in the Dining Hall, respond appropriately to their concerns and bring concerns to the OM and/or HC.
  • As the "face" of the department that students see every day, the FSLA must represent the University with the utmost professionalism. They need to embrace culinary diversity and be open to adaptation.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare fresh quality meals that meet the customer's expectations adhering to the prescribed menu in accordance to the recipes and prescribed quantities.
  • Ensure Safe Food Guides are followed.
  • Clean and sanitize the kitchen appliances, small wears and working areas.
  • Receive orders as needed, ensure accuracy and make sure all items are put away correctly.
  • Making sure when there is a short abundance of food it is written on the order board.
  • Notify OM or HC when equipment has been damaged or is in need of repair.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma
  • Apprenticing in Culinary or completed Apprenticeship Culinary
  • Food Safe Certificate
  • WHMIS
