Job Overview



The

Food and Beverages Supervisor

will be responsible for working and overseeing the daily operations of the multiple F&B venues within the resort, including:

All Seasons

o Canthooks Restaurant Calabogie Peaks Hotel (50 seats)

Banquets - Algonquin Hall & Madawaska Room - capacity of 20 to 200

Sky Season - Ski Lodge

o Mountain Cat Cafe (cafeteria service)

o Black Donalds Pub (pub service) 9120 seats)

Green Season

o Boathouse Bar & Grill - waterfront May to September (outdoor seating)

o Various outside venues selected by guests

o Occasional off-site Catering

This position requires exceptional customer service skills, strong leadership abilities, experience in Food and service, and a keen attention to detail.

The Food and Beverage Supervisor

will ensure that guests receive an exceptional experience from all Food and Beverage centers, being responsible for all Servers, Runners, Bartenders, etc. All while working side-by-side with the Executive Chef to deliver an unforgettable experience with each interaction.

Key Responsibilities



Guest Relations & Customer Service



Greet and welcome all guests with warmth and professionalism, ensuring a positive impression of the restaurants and bars. Address guest inquiries, complaints, and concerns in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner. Act as a point of contact for VIP guests using any F&B service and ensure their needs are met, going above and beyond to create memorable experiences. Ensure accurate communication of guest preferences, special needs, and feedback to appropriate hotel staff.

F&B Outlets operation



Supervise and manage daily operations of the restaurant and Bar (according to each season) including overseeing shifts and delegating tasks to servers, runners and bartenders. Ensure all F&B outlets are following standard operating procedures for each F&B service, including attending phone calls, managing reservations, approving discounts and controlling Food and Beverage cost as well as payroll costs. Monitor and ensure the accuracy of covers and checks, payments, and charges using the POS system. Conduct daily audits of open checks, voided checks, discount, payments and inventories, ensuring all transactions are accurate. Maintain inventory and stock of Beverages, liquor, beer, conducting opening and closing inventories, weekly inventories, monthly inventory and control of all ordering for beverage as well as other related purchases. The ideal candidate should be certified in all related areas (Smart Serve, and Food Handler are mandatory)

Team Leadership & Training



Lead, motivate, and mentor Food and beverage staff, ensuring they maintain high levels of professionalism and customer service. Provide training and continuous development to all F&B staff on hotel policies, systems, and guest service expectations. Evaluate Servers, Runners, and bartenders' performance and provide constructive feedback to each team member. Schedule all F&B service staff and manage shift assignments to ensure adequate coverage at all times, and be responsible for payroll cost control.

Communication & Coordination



Act as a liaison between the food and beverage department, and other related departments (kitchen, Catering and Banquets, front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, etc.) to ensure seamless guest service. Communicate and resolve issues with guests or other departments in a timely and effective manner. Handle guest requests for special accommodations, restrictions, allergies and requests, working closely with the kitchen and other departments.

Administrative & Reporting



Assist in the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly reports on sales, discounts, average consumption, expenses, payroll, food cost, beverage cost, and guest satisfaction. Track guest feedback and implement strategies for improvement in areas such as guest satisfaction, F&B outlet operations, and customer service. Ensure compliance with hotel policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Qualifications & Skills



Education

: High School Diploma required; Post-secondary education in Hospitality Management or related field is an asset.

Experience

: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Supervisor in a restaurant, with at least 1 year in a high-volume / fast-paced set of restaurants.

Skills

: Strong leadership and team management abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to multitask and handle high-pressure situations. Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. Proficient in restaurant software (POS Systems), Microsoft Office Suite, and basic accounting procedures. Knowledge of Health and Safety, Controls and inventory, Food handled, and Smart Serve.

Working Conditions



This position requires the ability to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The role will require standing for long periods and assisting guests with luggage or other physical tasks when necessary. This is a fast-paced environment requiring excellent time management and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities at once.
