The Food & Beverage Manager/Event Coordinator oversees bar service, restaurant staffing, beverage cart service, and event planning and logistics, working closely with the Director General and kitchen team to ensure seamless experiences for guests and members. This role plays a key part in driving restaurant and event-related revenues by actively creating, promoting, and executing a wide range of internal and external activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Food and Beverage Services Management
Schedule, train, and supervise bartenders, servers, beverage cart attendants, and banquet staff.
Ensure high service standards are met during all events and day-to-day operations.
Oversee setup and takedown for events; ensure readiness of bar and banquet areas.
Support Smart Serve compliance and maintain a safe and responsible service environment.
Event Development, Planning & Coordination
Proactively develop and implement a dynamic calendar of events, including member socials, tournaments, banquets, weddings, community events, and seasonal specials.
Identify new opportunities to increase event bookings, including outreach to corporate clients, community groups, and wedding/event planners.
Meet with prospective clients to promote the club as a venue and to customize event offerings to their needs.
Serve as the primary coordinator for all aspects of events: initial planning, timelines, staffing, room setup, bar service, decor, and coordination with kitchen staff for menus.
Ensure all event details are executed professionally and efficiently, with a high level of attention to guest satisfaction.
Track event outcomes and gather feedback to improve future offerings.
Client & Member Relations
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, members, and community partners.
Act as the point of contact during events to ensure everything runs smoothly and guests are satisfied.
Resolve issues calmly and professionally, ensuring a positive impression of the club.
Administration & Reporting
Manage event staffing schedules and coordinate payroll inputs for front-of-house staff.
Maintain event booking records, contracts, and post-event summaries.
Monitor bar inventory for events and coordinate with suppliers when needed.
Assist the DG in forecasting and reporting on event-driven revenues and expenses.
Marketing & Promotion
Actively promote events, specials, and club activities through social media platforms, email campaigns, posters, and community outreach.
Maintain an active and consistent online presence to showcase the club's amenities, events, and member culture.
Represent the club at local networking or industry events to promote the venue and services.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in food & beverage service management. Event planning and coordination is a strong asset.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Experience managing staff in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
Demonstrated ability to create and promote events using social media.
Smart Serve certified; strong knowledge of alcohol service standards.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Bilingual (English/French) is an asset; English essential.
Knowledge of Lightspeed POS system is an asset.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Working Conditions:
Full-time, flexible schedule based on events and seasonal activity.
Mix of office and on-site (service area/event space) duties.
Requires standing for extended periods and lifting light items during events.
