The Front of House Assistant Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the restaurant's front-of-house activities. This position is responsible for overseeing the dining area, managing staff, and delivering exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food service management, with experience in both casual and fine dining environments. The Front of House Manager will work closely with kitchen staff and management to create a seamless dining experience for guests.
Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate daily front-of-house operations to ensure efficiency and high standards of service.
Train, mentor, and develop staff to enhance their skills in customer service and food handling.
Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
Oversee cash handling procedures and ensure accurate POS transactions using systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS.
Maintain a clean and organized dining environment while adhering to food safety regulations.
Handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally to ensure guest satisfaction.
Collaborate with kitchen management on menu planning, food production, and catering services as needed.
Conduct interviews and assist in hiring new team members to build a strong front-of-house team.
Implement training programs for staff development in hospitality management, leadership, and food service best practices.
Skills
Proven experience in restaurant management or hospitality management within the food industry.
Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety standards.
Familiarity with inventory control processes and budgeting practices.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle challenging situations effectively.
Experience with cash handling and operating POS systems
Leadership capabilities with a focus on team management and development.
Background in fine dining or casual dining environments is preferred.
Ability to manage shifts effectively while ensuring high-quality service during peak hours.
Culinary experience is a plus, along with banquet or catering experience for special events.
