Job Summary

The Fleet Services Garage - Mechanic A is responsible for performing all repairs, servicing and up fitting on all types of vehicles

Duties & Responsibilities:

\xc2\xb7 Performs minor and major repairs, servicing and up fitting on all types of vehicles, (cars, light truck, medium/heavy trucks and truck trailers) including mounted vehicle attachments (cranes, hirail, gensets etc.) and material handling equipment.

\xc2\xb7 Uses electric and oxy-acetylene welding equipment, and other vehicle repair tools to perform repairs.

\xc2\xb7 Records details on prescribed forms in accordance with established procedures.

\xc2\xb7 Assist at Winnipeg Garage in times of operational needs.

\xc2\xb7 Stock the necessary parts in the service vehicle to do the job and keep inventory as required to perform the necessary repairs in the field

\xc2\xb7 When on duty, will carry a cell phone and remain available at all times by end user or garage supervisor.

\xc2\xb7 Complete a Mobile Mechanic Weekly Planner and submit it to the garage supervisor for review prior to the following scheduled workweek.

\xc2\xb7 keep track and summit all OCS expenses at latest by the end of the month.

\xc2\xb7 Generate repair orders through the RAC.

\xc2\xb7 Ensure that all the parts and labor times documented on the repair orders.

\xc2\xb7 Ensure that all repair orders are completed and submitted to the garage supervisor for review by the end of every work cycle.

\xc2\xb7 Other duties as assigned.

Employment Requirements:

\xc2\xb7 HD Red Seal Certificate is required. Automotive Red Seal Certificate would be an asset.

\xc2\xb7 Other additional mechanic certification would be an asset.

\xc2\xb7 Must be able to pass the current Mechanic \xe2\x80\x9cA\xe2\x80\x9d test.

\xc2\xb7 Must be capable of servicing and repairing various types of Hirail equipment.

\xc2\xb7 Must have at least five years\' experience in the Heavy Duty or Commercial Transport repair trade.

  • Capable of certifying company equipment in accordance with Provincial/Regulatory standards. Valid Provincial driver\'s license is required. Air endorsement and class upgrade would be an asset.
  • Capable to operate all types of vehicles and equipment serviced.
  • Required to have own basic hand tools sufficient to perform repairs and servicing to all types of fleet equipment.
  • Must be able to work either inside or outside at the terminal and away from the home base.
Work Conditions:

The mobile mechanic is expected to perform PMH inspections and general repairs (as per duties) across Ontario, Manitoba & Saskatchewan but not limited to. Outside work at terminals, in the field and shop environment will be required. Prolonged stay away from home when performing fieldwork may be required.

Work Schedule:

\xc2\xb7 The work schedule will be 5 days on 2 days off or 8 days on and 6 days off depending on operational needs.

\xc2\xb7 Work schedules will be pre-determined & approved by supervisor prior to start of work shift.

\xc2\xb7 Winnipeg Garage will be the home base and reporting location at the beginning & end of each work block.

Vehicle:

\xc2\xb7 The service vehicle will be a NSC vehicle. Mobile mechanic will be responsible to complete the vehicle daily inspection form and driver\'s daily logs and submit the driver\'s logs to the compliance office by the end of month.

\xc2\xb7 Mobile mechanic will be responsible to complete the NSC training every 3 years.

\xc2\xb7 Mobile mechanic will be responsible to follow the CN Vehicle Use Policy at all times when operating a CN vehicle.

Work truck will be stationed at the Winnipeg garage
