Fleet and Training Officer - Integrated Emergency Services
Reporting to: Director of Integrated Emergency Services (IES)
Location: IFNA Communities or Sioux Lookout
Position Type: Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY
The Independent First Nations Alliance is looking to hire a Fleet and Training Officer, who will report to the Director of Integrated Emergency Services.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE:

  • Support tracking and management of the IES (Integrated Emergency Services) fleet, including drone and vehicle assets.
  • Assist with training programs within IES and IFNA Regional Fire Rescue.
  • Training may include driver training (BZ, CZ, DZ Licensing) and other programs.
  • May be assigned to assist individual projects as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain clear records of the working condition, maintenance status and location of IES vehicles and major equipment.
  • Work closely with the Regional Fire Rescue Senior Management, Community Wildfire Specialist and Chief of Emergency Medical Services to understand their needs and keep them updated on the status of key equipment for their teams.
  • Work with local contractors for repairs as needed.
  • Develop and execute training initiatives for driving courses.
  • Assist IES Managers with training courses they are running.
  • Develop and implement policies, standards, strategies, and staff training programs.
  • Asset management of facilities and equipment related to Emergency Services.
  • Multi-tasking abilities
  • Administration of financial costs associated to the inventory.
  • Reporting to funding partners
  • Develop and organize annual and long-term plans, processes, and procedures as part of the inventory of the IFNA Fleet.
  • Provide logistical support and equipment management.
  • Work is performed independently under the leadership of the IFNA IES Team.
  • Frequent travel to IFNA communities.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Project management and logistics experience is important for this role.
  • Experience in a training or leadership environment.
  • Ability to handle a physical workload.
  • Interpersonal skills to liaise with First Nation community members, as well as external clients.
  • Problem solving and resolution skills to facilitate and promote corrective action.
  • Work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong oral, written, communication and presentation skills.
  • Leadership skills
Requirements:
  • 18 years of age
  • Minimum level of CZ Driver\'s license with 5 to 10 years experience, with a clean driver\'s abstract
o Preferably seeking with BZ or higher.
  • Desire to help protect local communities, nature and wildlife.
  • Covid Vaccination.
  • Be a good team player.
Assets:
  • Local Indigenous candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to speak local languages or dialects.
  • Valid Driver\'s License.
