Position Title: Fixed Equipment Integrity Inspector

Team and Location: Parkland Refinery - Burnaby, BC

Position Summary:

The Fixed Equipment Inspector is a key member of the Maintenance & Reliability Organization supporting the refinery. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Safety, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance and Contract personnel to ensure the integrity and reliability of the Refinery's fixed equipment assets throughout their lifecycle. They will ensure the safe and efficient execution of the Boiler, Pressure Vessel, Fired Heater and Piping Mechanical Integrity Programs within their assigned area of the Refinery.

This position will report directly to the FEI Supervisor, Short Range & Turnarounds, with dotted line accountabilities to the Senior FEI Inspector for their area of responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Active commitment to the site's Loss Prevention System (LPS), our Culture of Care and our Lifesaving rules in pursuit of an Incident and Injury Free Workplace. Leadership, through personal behaviors, of the use of proactive tools, incident reporting and investigation, and all safe work practices and procedures.
  • Accountable for ensuring the safe, efficient, and on-time execution of the Mechanical Integrity program for their area of responsibility at the Refinery.
  • Oversee the execution of infield inspections by contractor Inspection Service Companies and steward the completion of inspections in alignment with the compliance dates.
  • Accountable for the initial analysis and follow-up of all inspection program findings.
  • Actively identify and implement changes to the Fixed Equipment Asset Strategies (FEAS) when inspection or operational monitoring.
  • Make recommendations to maintain equipment reliability, support fitness for service evaluations and help facilitate repairs.
  • Act as back-up Inspector for the above duties for at least one additional area within the Refinery.
  • Support the field execution of all major Refinery Turnarounds and Controlled Non- Routine Maintenance Fixed Equipment Outages at the Refinery.
  • Support management of change, pre-start up safety reviews, HAZOPs, and document management and control.
  • Adjust and respond to the changing needs of the organization as programs, priorities and requirements evolve over time.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • API 510 and API 570 Certification required. Certification in API 653, API 580, and National Board or CSA Z662 knowledge is an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with fixed equipment inspection in a manufacturing environment. A combination of education and experience including a Materials or Mechanical Technologist Diploma, or Engineering degree will also be considered
  • Technical knowledge of fixed equipment design, inspection and damage mechanisms. Familiarity with Risk Based Inspection practices is an asset.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability, with the capacity to understand data and identify irregularities and trends.
  • Strong organizational, prioritizing, teamwork and interpersonal skills. Ability to demonstrate leadership through influence.
  • Ability to be a self-starter, results oriented, able to work with minimum supervision and
  • be confident in their knowledge.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing tasks while delivering results.
  • Proficient in MS Office with strong Excel skills. IDMS knowledge, specifically Visions database system is an asset.
