Fitter

Trenergy is a 100 percent locally owned fabrication plant in St. Catharines, Ontario specializing in the manufacture of boilers, pressure vessels, rail tank cars and more. We are looking for experienced welders to join our growing team. We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefit package including RRSP contributions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

FITTING OF ALL BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Ore & grain dryers, Headers, Downcomer & feeder pipes from steam drum, Condensers, Superheaters, Tube platens, Boiler drums, heat exchangers, etc.

Interprets drawings and sketches, plans, and determines working procedure with Supervisor or Lead Hand as necessary.

Performs necessary layout for work as required.

Makes and places holding devices to align and support material for fitting.

Performs assembling, fitting, tack welding, burning, grinding operations, etc., on component parts and final assemblies on manufactured products such as headers, drums, boilers, condensers, heat exchangers, air heaters, economizers, etc., including assembly required for testing.

Cuts material using oxy-propane torches or carbon arc, tack welds while fabricating, making shrinking allowance and ensuring minimum warping of metal.

Forms, straightens, and rounds up materials as required, using heating torch, peening tools, jacks, etc.

Reports errors in layout or blueprint.

Sets up and performs various operations on the shear, brake, and punch machines, using appropriate jigs, dies, and attachments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A.S.M.E. or CWB Certifications.

Competent in blue print reading.

Knowledge of fitting and welding in a manufacturing/industrial environment.

Excellent team work and communication skills.

Knowledge of quality assurance systems and procedures.

Crane and lifting device experience.

Grade 12 or equivalent.

Welding school/college diploma is an asset.

Required experience:

3 to 5 years work related experience.
