The Fitness Instructor will primarily be teaching aquafit classes, while consistently provides high-quality group fitness instruction through a variety of engaging, educational and fun classes that promote fitness, wellness, and positive self-esteem in a safe, welcoming environment. You will come prepared to each class with a lesson plan and music that aligns with the class description. During the sessions, you will observe participants, offering modifications as needed to ensure their safety and success. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential, as you will build positive relationships with members, foster a sense of community, and encourage ongoing attendance. Engaging with members before and after classes, answering questions, and promoting our programs and services will be part of your role. You also help maintain a clean and organized environment by tidying up after each class and reporting any issues.

Fitness Instructors are required to maintain their certifications and participate in scheduled staff training. This is a part-time position with flexible hours available during the day, evening, and weekends. A $2.00 per hour premium is offered for instructing classes, in addition to your base wage.

QUALIFICATIONS

1 or more years of aqua fitness instructor work experience (an asset) Minimum of one of the following Certifications: Fitness Instructor Certification, Canadian Aqua fitness Leaders Alliance (CALA), AQX Aqua Fitness, or other nationally recognized aquatic fitness certification Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certificate Criminal Reference Check for Employment with a Vulnerable Sector Check (dated within the last three months) is required for approval by the Corporation prior to commencing employment Ability to perform aerobic and strength movements for duration of a class, in and out of the water, which may include, but not limited to, standing, walking, jumping, balancing, kneeling, reaching, bending, and lifting

WAGE/SALARY RANGE:

$18.74 to $23.42 per hour (based on a 24 hour work week)
