Supervisor: Fitness Manager

Schedule: Monday - Sunday, work to job completion, some evenings/weekends may be required.

About the Position



This position primarily keeps the fitness centre welcoming. You are the friendly face of fitness at the JCC; enhancing member experience and responsible for customer interaction on an ongoing basis. You are also responsible for cleanliness of the upper and lower fitness centre, the groupX studio and the hallways/ramps leading to these areas. You will deep clean and detail the equipment, tidy all loose equipment, wipe down and lube machines, keep relevant portable equipment in useable condition and report broken or unsafe equipment to the Fitness Manager. The fitness centre monitor is a second responder in the event of a first aid or CPR in an emergency in either the upper or lower fitness centre (pool staff are first responders) and are also the 3rd responder in the event of a spinal emergency in the pool. You may also be responsible for dropping into recreational programs like pickleball to ensure these programs are running smoothly.

Specific Responsibilities:



Greet and welcome fitness centre clientele Use excellent customer service skills, establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, members and all members of the general public. Assist and address all members' questions/concerns while providing outstanding customer service. Continuously walk the weight room engaging the members. Make yourself available to the members. Assist members with basic knowledge of equipment. Present opportunities to guests to further utilize our facility, making relevant suggestions to enhance their visit or make the most of their membership by providing information, hours, costs, other services. Effectively execute and enforce fitness centre policies and guidelines, monitoring and correcting client behavior when needed. Deep clean all equipment and flooring. Check equipment on a regular basis throughout your shift to know what is operational or not. Keep upper and lower fitness centre tidy at all times. Check paper towel dispensers, spray bottles, hand sanitizers, trash and make sure all equipment is put away properly. Report any complaints and broken equipment to the Fitness Manager Wear proper fitness centre attire Occasionally drop in to recreational programs to ensure they are running smoothly Complete any other tasks as required

Qualifications/Requirements:



Valid Standard First Aid Certification and CPR Level C Police check completed - Vulnerable Sector Search Attend in-service Safety meetings as required (usually quarterly). Canfitpro/AFLCA, working towards a Kinesiology degree or similar an asset Must be physically able to do the tasks as required. This includes: walking for long periods of time, bending/twisting/squatting, and climbing/kneeling, and the ability to lift/carry objects up to 50 lbs. Excellent written and verbal English language communication skills.

Pay: From $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 - 15 per week
