Position Overview:

The Fit Specialist / Pattern Maker - Outerwear is a key member of the Global Fit team responsible for owning the development of first patterns for outerwear garments across men's, women's, and unisex collections. This role works directly with Creative Directors and Designers to transform sketches into technically sound, first patterns that meet functional and aesthetic goals while delivering a luxury

fit according to the Global Fit Strategy.

Collaborating in real-time with Product Development, the Fit Specialist co-leads the early concept hand-off process and ensures precision in execution during prototype creation. A strong understanding of complex outerwear construction, performance features, insulation, and engineered fit is essential.

About The Role:

Pattern Creation & Category Expertise

Develop all first patterns for outerwear garments--from parkas to lightweight jackets--interpreting complex design concepts into technical executions. Ensure pattern accuracy, garment performance, and consistency with brand fit standards and grade rules across all sizes. Collaborate directly with Designers to translate silhouette, proportion, and styling intent into pattern form. Review fit on live models or forms, identify pattern corrections, and re-make patterns when required.

Concept Development & Prototyping

Participate in IRL (in real life) concept hand-off sessions alongside Design and Product Development. Co-own the creation of the initial development package with Product Development: you build the pattern; PD builds the tech pack. Partner with the atelier or vendor sample room to deliver a clear, cohesive first prototype.

Fit Refinement & Technical Expertise

Lead fit reviews, offering expert commentary on pattern accuracy, garment balance, construction, and insulation integrity. Work closely with internal sample makers and vendors to communicate updates and refine construction for outerwear-specific challenges (e.g., waterproofing, down channels, seam taping). Ensure outerwear fit is consistent across silhouettes and meets global sizing, mobility, and wearability standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate closely with Product Development to ensure all technical specifications, POMs, and sketches accurately reflect the pattern and construction intent. Communicate clearly with vendors and internal partners to resolve challenges and maintain high execution standards. Participate in seasonal fit reviews, contributing outerwear-specific insights to improve process and product quality.

About You:

Experience & Education:

5+ years of pattern making experience in outerwear (luxury, designer, or performance apparel strongly preferred). Deep understanding of outerwear-specific materials and construction techniques including insulation, engineered mobility, layering, and weather resistance. Certificate or degree in Fashion Design, Pattern Making, Technical Design, or related field. Proficient in Gerber Accumark or similar CAD software; CLO or other 3D experience a plus.

Technical Expertise:

Proven ability to develop patterns for technical outerwear from concept to production. Solid understanding of pattern grading, garment engineering, and manufacturing practices specific to outerwear. Familiar with challenges related to insulation (e.g., down fill volume), seam sealing, and outerwear fit balance.

Communication & Collaboration:

Comfortable working with Creative Directors, Designers, and cross-functional teams to bridge technical execution and creative vision. Excellent communication skills--able to clearly articulate fit corrections and construction requirements to vendors and internal teams.

Attributes:

Passion for technical outerwear design and achieving luxury fit and function. Meticulous attention to detail and construction precision. Ability to manage multiple styles and timelines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Solution-oriented, proactive, and flexible--thrives in evolving global teams and creative environments.

Additional Requirements:

Occasional travel to vendor locations, manufacturing partners, or fit sessions may be required (<5%). Must be available for in-person fittings and concept meetings as required by the seasonal calendar.
