WONDERING WHAT YOU\'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?
Your role will require you to bring a high standard of scientific excellence to your daily work. These responsibilities will include:
  • Strategic enhancement planning to support emerging enhancement initiatives for government and First Nations.
  • Fish Culture infrastructure and system planning
  • Coordinating field programs to support enhancement initiatives (e.g. brood collection, juvenile releases, monitoring and assessment)
  • Developing and implementing Fish Health Management plans, data management, and advising on aquaculture license requirements and compliance
  • Developing and implementing enhancement assessment and monitoring programs (e.g. marking/tagging, dead-pitch, lake trawls, mark-recapture studies)
  • Working as a member of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating with your colleagues to maximize work productivity and quality.

THE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR.
  • BSc. or M.Sc. in a relevant environmental science discipline.
  • 3+ years of relevant technical experience, direct experience working with Pacific Salmon and other freshwater fish is an asset.
  • Experience in fish culture, including facility operation, fish health management, and alternative enhancement techniques (e.g. natal brood collection, lake and stream enrichment)
  • Experience working collaboratively with First Nations, volunteers, and other stake holders
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic business with strict deadlines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality, excellence, and ethics
